Ok...progress was made tonight. I had a feeling there might be an issue with using the 77/78 swingarm with the 75 hub and caliper so I bought a used 75 swingarm and it got here today. The swingarms look the same but the 77/78 is offset by about 10mm on the drive side and the axle is longer (Jerry confirmed this late last night and Godffery was also concerned). I installed the 75 arm and everything bolted up just like it should.

Keen eyes will notice in that second picture that the carrier is a bit further in the hub than it needs to be. Godffery caught that and made me aware of it. I left the spacer that goes in before the carrier gets pressed on to the cush drive on the bench so I need to take care of that. I'll get the swingarm cleaned up and get it all back together Friday night and then get the offset sprockets from Cognito ordered.

Things look the same tonight but I found some time after work to pull the sprocket carrier and get that spacer inside. Now the hub spins much better!

We got 6" last month and the City shut down for a week, cant imagine 4'!!!

I got all the bushings pulled from the swingarm and it’s cleaned and ready to get blasted and powdered.

Thanks I’m excited. There’s a cool story (at least to me) on the guy who has done the powder. As we were standing there BSing when we first met he tells me that years ago he did all the finish work for the Yeti bicycle frames (Yeti was a Colorado builder). Then he tells me that he also did the Scandium Schwinn frames. Those were extremely nice and very popular and everybody wanted one because they were done in bass boat metal flake. I rode for the Schwinn Homegrown mountain bike team for several years and had a gold flake and black frame that he painted.

I had a decent weather window the other day where temps were in the 60's so I decided to prime and paint the sections of the frame where things were ground off. Things were looking good until the clear went on. Immediately, it orange peeled horribly. Then we got another storm and now temps are back in the 30's for highs. So I took everything back down to bare metal and started over. I was able to spend quite a bit of time on things last night and today and it's ready to prime again but temps look like they'll be in the 30's for another week so at a stalemate. Also decided since I had time that I would fill some of the low spots from where I did the grinding. God I hate bodywork and paint.

Jerry, you still in the islands?

From dissimilar metals and galvanic corrosion point of view is it better to use on Chrome rims a Zinc plated, brass, or stainless nipple?

When using aluminum rims, what is your best choice. It will Not be Stainless on aluminum rims as you are going t have a very reactive combination and the poor aluminum is going t be the reactive loser being consumed if any galvanic corrosion happens.

Ever looked at gold leaf techniques?
Wonder if she would like real gold nipples?

They are talking about a chemical eradication program...too bad they cannot let it be open season with no limits if they are going to just kill them all. Are the fish edible after a chemical kill? Do they harm any animals who eat any they do not collect? Too bad they can’t harvest them and give the fish frozen to homeless shelters and other food pantry type places...

Thought you might want to comment on it...

FYI - The Triumph Thruxton R comes stock with aluminum rims and stainless steel spokes and nipples. I've also built wheels with aluminum Excel and Sun rims with stainless steel nipples and spokes. NO CORROSION.

Although my experience with motorcycles is almost none, I wondered the same thing. I've got mountain bike wheels that have alloy rims and stainless nipples that have been abused for 20 years and have zero issues with corrosion. Thanks for the word of caution David...be tragic to come this far only to have my nipples suffer from corrosion.

Interesting article on the Yellowstone Cutts. Cutthroat seem to be much more political than rainbows, browns, and even hybrids and keeping them in tact and not threatened is usually a fairly hot topic. I'm not a biologist but I will say that catching a genuine strain Cutt (whatever the specific species) is just different. We have Greenbacks, Snake Rivers, and Colorado Cutts here.

Oh and I can't comment on eating them because I always let anything go.

Can't seem to catch a break with the weather on my week of vacation. All it does is snow and it's entirely too cold to paint the frame and move on with putting the back end together.

I have been having some fun with very small body work issues though. I ground the helmet hook off years ago but never cleaned it up.

Chris, I just figured if they are going to do fish kills to eradicate them and then transplant the Cutthroats in the fish shouldn't just go to waste. You being a sport fisherman and guide I thought you might like to chime in on the issue.
I have no issues with them doing conservation and actions to give a species a better chance at survival.
I just hate to see all those fish killed with out harvesting them for zoos or shelters or other more useful benefits.
I have no issue with them helping protect a species after they screwed up the balance of nature planting rainbow or other species in the streams and rivers with fish stocking programs.

I don't sport fish, heck I haven't been fishing in years, last time probably with my kids and before that with my step grandfather. He taught the grandkids to fish and us males to hunt. He was Melungeon. Actually I am part Melungeon as well. I don't have the dark olive like complexion of my brother whom is 5 days shy of being a year older.
