I haven't forgotten about this thread, just been busy with hunny doo list, remodeling the kitchen at the same time, plus Christmas......

plus, a 750, 350f, a 350 twin in the pot too along with this one.

did order some parts, oil slinger, timing chain sliders, and timing chain adjuster.

I'm subscribed mate, I bought this little CL90 from a guy who bought it in the 60's, just because it's cute. Not on my priority list to restore, but eventually I'll need to at least fire it up (hasn't run in 10 years but still turns over) and take it for a lap around the block. ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Just some pix to show what I'm working with.

Not good at this, but here goes.

Looks like the head is toast.

Looks like a good starting point mate, I'll need to google some pics of your model to see the differences between it and mine. I imagine that those heads would be pretty common across several models, I'd think? The engine internals look nice and clean, with no visible surface rust, so I'm guessing it's been dried stored, which is a real bonus, there's nothing more disheartening than opening up an engine and finding that everything inside has rusted together. ;D

I would try cutting the seats, it's difficult to see how deep the rust pitting goes.
Guides, springs, and valves are still available at "not exorbitant" prices from CMSNL. (I would like to see their warehouse)
Although possibly replaceable, the valve seats were not a service item - and having some made then replacing them likely not worth trying since getting a used head would be less grief and probably a lot cheaper.

Yeah, I'm looking for another head. Either way, looks like I may end up spending more, just for the head, than I did for the whole bike.

But hey,........don't we all.......?

Yeah,a CB125S head will work;those seats in the picture look Very eaten-away by rust. How are your camshaft/rockers and camshaft bearing in that head ?

Thanks, been looking for a head....cb/cl/sl/xl100 and 125, I could be going a little picky.

Haven't really looked at the other parts.

But I intend to do a 12 volt conversion on this engine.

I believe a 12vt conversion will be possible with that by ordering a known good rect/reg unit from an 83-84' Honda XL200R enduro or other model with single phase that came with 12vts. stock.
