Hello from SW Ontario, Canada
« on: December 23, 2020, 11:57:57 AM »
Currently considering rebuilding a 1974 CB350f1 that was literally dropped in my lap. My next door neighbours moved away and left the bike in the back yard. Knowing their landlord, I asked if he was going to do anything with it and he said he was going to scrap it, if you want it, take it. Thanks, I said and pushed it to my back yard. The bike has not run for about 5 years and has no keys or title. Is this a bike worth sinking some money into or should I be scrapping it out or parting it out?

Welcome from Peterborough, ON. Before doing too much, go to your local Service Ontario location. Take the vin# with you an plate number (if it has one). They can tell you if the bike has any liens, or was stolen. They should also be able to outline what they you have to do/spend to get an ownership. That should help you decide.
Also, use the kick starter. Does it turn over? Any compression? Seized? Looking at the bike, it will be easy to spend more than it’s worth. Your call.

Thanks for the comeback BenelliSEI and the welcome from MD.
I purchased the UVIP from the MTO and all is clear. No leins or anything else against it.
The motor turns over with the kick starter, so not seized. Tranny seems to move from gear to gear.
I'm recently retired and thinking this might be a good spring project if I can get it running.
I'm going to have to try and get all the key points open without doing too much damage, gas cap, seat lock and ignition.

Thanks for your input,
Larry

Larry...... posts some pictures and mention cb350F in the title. There is a member on this forum who is also a CVMG member, lives in S.Ontario. He’s built a few 350Fs and will be a great resource for you..... his name escapes me at the moment!

Hello Larry. Welcome to sohc4 from across the river, Merry Christmas.
Someday I will get myself and my CB across the bridge. I hope it’s sooner and not later, but’s who knows?...... and maybe it will be on the Gord, but there is a billionaire that owns the Ambassador and he really doesn’t want the competition.

Welcome to the forum. I had a cb350f that I regrettably sold about 10 years ago.  It's a great little bike.  Good luck with the project.

Welcome aboard Larry
Sounds like you have a good project bike. It'll be a fun bike once you get it going.
You can get a replacement key rather than tearing apart the locks.
Look at the locks for the key number stamped on the locks. Then search the internet "honda key T-....."(your key number).
Honda sent at least 4 keys with each bike and most dealers had boxes of left over keys that people have bought up the lot from dealers clearing out old stock and they sell individually. Usually $5-$10 each. Get 2 or more to have at least 1 spare.
