I have a small steel reserve tank on my bike that I want to spray paint.I prefer to just buy one can of gloss black spray paint and shoot it and let it cure and have it fuel resistant. Any such animal exist ?
I have heard of some undercarriage black paint in a can and even helped a fellow apply it by brush to a motorcycle fuel tank:he's still using that tank today after 5 years with no ill effects, problem is we both forget the name of it.. I will brush it on also,no problem.

I've been hearing about that SprayMax 2K product for a while:I suppose it's the only way to paint a tank(can't just use straight paint.. have to clear over it)and protect the new paint from washing-off.

POR15 will not brake down with gasoline, I line my tanks with it. But it's not good with UV rays and needs a clear coat like spray max to finish it off .

Have you dipped the entire tank into it,what type of finish does it leave outside the tank ? I do see the benefit of clear-coat over the outside.I remember getting my 77' Kawasaki(originally factory silver,I never should have changed it)KZ1000 Z1-R tank and sidecovers, tail section I use to own painted in the early 80's.I had a shop spray it with black lacquer and after a while I decided to buff that:it Really came-out nice and the tank was resistant to gasoline. The man who I worked for in the body shop must have put hardener in it I suppose.

No, I haven't dropped the tank into POR15, it's almost impossible to get it off your hands when it gets on them, usually takes a week or so til it wares off, so be super careful with that stuff.
I coat the inside first , removing petcocks and taping over the holes, if the petcock is a double screw mount I lightly grease 2 sacrificial screws and send them into the taped holes. If it's a make thread mount for female  petcock, remove petcock, cover the outlet with tape a couple times and then cover the tape while taping the threads to hold the seal and save the threads from getting this stuff on it. Carefully pour  POR15 in a little at a time , then  roll the tank to make sure that there is good coverage but not so much that it puddles, roll it often to ensure good  even coverage when you think you have good coverage and it might be starting to dry,  keep rolling it for a while longer and leave it set opening the petcock tape so any excess will drip out into a container of some sort ( it's really hard to get this crap off of any surface  so be careful) give it a week to dry, then attack the outside of the tank with a fine bristle paint brush POR 15 smooths itself out allot and will drip like crazy so be careful.
I used this stuff on truck frames for years, the sun will dull it out fast so I clear coat  and it stays nice for years.
