CL350 - New points or convert to electronic IG????
« on: October 18, 2021, 03:30:59 PM »
The timing on my cl350 is off. The points are ancient and if I'm going to adjust them I might as well get some nice ones. OR should I just go electronic ignition route. Whatre your thoughts?

Thanks,
Andrew

I hate the expense and failure rate of electronic, those are probably original points and have lasted years so replace with original
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

The HondaMan electronic ignition box working in conjunction with points is excellent.

I've been using Accent electronic ignition for some 20 years on 2 bikes, quite cheap, easy to install and really set and forget.

Does it use OEM factory advance weights ?

Nice bike Andrew.  My first bike was a 1972 CL350 only red.
The stock point system works fine on this bike.  Keep it stock.
Put new points in if you can get them from Honda.

Every one of us will have an opinion!   I havent had an issue with points so I would go that route, but don't buy cheap ass aftermarket points!  You will regret that.
