Anyone know of a good starting point on jetting a set of cr29's on a cb750 with 836cc, porting, web cam 63a, dyna ign, etc.

I'd start with a 120 main, needle on 2nd clip from the top and air screws about 3/4 turns out. Thats with K&N filters

Thanks Mike, I should have the carbs Monday, just wanted to get a start on haveing everything I need. Honda shop is 13 miles away. I don't have filters for it yet. I guess I'll order them when I get the carbs, since I don't know the size I need. UNLESS.........Someone out there has a set they need to get rid of?

I got the bike running!! with the stock carbs. Starts nice and good response. rolled outside to go around the block, take pics, and it started raining and sleeting/hail. So You'll have to wait on the pics.

OK..got the carbs today! I thought they were the wrong ones at first. The spigots are smaller than the stock carbs. The bore is 29mm. The spigots are 34mm! smaller than the stocks. YY8 needles, 45 low speeds. Will I need to get bigger spigots or smash them down with the clamps? Are the rest of the jets/needles OK?

I haven't ordered K&N filters for my 29's yet but here's the part #'s I got

1820(single filter)

1824(all four filters)

Which "spigots" are you referring to as being 34mm smaller than stock? My carbs came with adapters(engine side) that look longer than stock if anything.

The outside diameter is 34mm on the adaptors. The stock carbs are bigger. Around 40mm. Can I get bigger adaptors? Or just clamp them down?

Hockers- Didn't you buy your carbs off of Ebay? Perhaps you didn't get the correct "adapters" for the SOHC750? I would doubt that you will get a good reliable seal scrunching down the stock rubbers. Hopefully someone here will have more info for you but you could probably call up one of the US distributors and find out your options. Good luck.

I found them on sudcos' site. 020-473 mounting spigots. Didn't you have some issues with these Mike?

Yes, I got them off ebay, and they must be for a different bike, the spacing was also off. Do I need to get different pilots, needles, etc?

Yes, I have the F3 rubbers. I'm compareing the cr's to a set of K4 carbs. The K's measure 38mm and the adapters on the cr's are 34mm. I think the guy said they were on a kz1000? I have a friend in a machine shop that could make the adapters for me. I guess the K8 rubbers are what I need to fit the K head with the F carbs? I just clamped the F's down with some good clamps. I'm not sure if this is right, but it's what I have to run for now.

still at the #2 notch with the yy8's and 3/4 out with the #45 jets? I don't like the words; should, probably, maybe, etc.

And I really don't like taking the carbs off, so I want to get it close the first time. What did you do on the adapters Mike?

Anyone know what the F carbs measure, I don't want to pull mine off. I know the K carbs measure 38mm. The Fs around 40mm? I'm thinking of welding a sleeve on the adapters I have and machineing the grove back in.

They are CR specials 29mm with the small adapters. The adapter od is 34mm, the F carbs must be around 40mm.

I believe the K8 boots will work! These are Keihins...not Mikuni's

OK, I have the adapters on the carbs with the right size spigots. Sudco wanted $212 + shipping, I spent $1 for 2 PVC couplers, heated them in the oven, put spigots in the freezer, pushed them on, cooled, and less than 1 hour on the lathe. Even taped some ports for the syncro gauges!

Still no possitive info on jetting? #45 low, #120 main, yy8 needles on #2 notch from top, air screws 3/4 turn out? Sound good? Thanks Mike.

I just got an email back from sudco about the jets. They said that info was part of the price of the carbs!! What a bunch of A$$HOLES!!!!!!!

I'll take some pics tomorrow Jesse. Basically took an Allen head bolt with the same thread as the idle screw. drilled into it. took a 1989 ZX-11 remote I had, soldered the square end into the drilled out hole and mounted it to the unused air filter box on the left side with some bracket I had. I used some shrink tubing to tie it all together. Anymore answers will cost money.
