Thank you Andy.
I’ve ordered the battery now, I only made enough room in the battery box for an 12v 12ah one, as I originally didn’t install the starter motor.  The battery is an AGM type which you add the acid to, then charge, I’m mounting it sideways so hopefully it will not leak. I also need to install indicators to the fairing somehow. The wrong mirrors arrived so still chasing them.

So I filled with acid, charged it and sealed it with the supplied bungs.
I removed the label so that I can install it on end.😂
It should not leak, at least that is what I am hoping.
Anyone out there done the same?

I would not do it.  Varta has very specific instructions that lead me to believe that these are not true AGM batteries:

Thanks for your thoughts on it, I’ve gone ahead and installed it for now.  I filled it with acid, waited two hours, then gave it an initial charge and then installed the blanking caps.
I left it over night on end, and now it’s fitted.
I’ll let you know if it leaks.
judging by many comments on the web, it should not leak if the caps are installed correctly.
Meanwhile I will look for a Gel battery that might fit

I’m really not a fan of the Gel batteries. Regular AGM are far more reliable

Yes, I believe AGM are better too. It’s still not leaking. But there again I’ve not fired the engine up yet

I’ve installed the battery, no leaks yet.
Working on fitting front indicators, I’ve made brackets to fibre glass inside the fairing
I still need to get some foam to make the seat
And am still waiting for foam socks to go over my carb intake venturis

And now a question for the wise ones on this forum
I put the engine together in about 2008, I used assembly lube and engine oil.  But as she’s been sat for so long, I’m considering putting a thimble full of diesel down the bores to help lubricate the bores and rings for initial turnover on the starter.  I intend to remove the plugs and turn on the starter to get oil around the engine whilst looking through the cam cover holes.  Anyone think that I should also squirt a bit of oil onto the valve train?
I’m also going to check the valve clearances are at .004” as per Webcam instructions

Indicators now fitted.
Getting very close to starting her for the first time. 
I put a very small squirt of diesel mixed with stroke oil in the bores and turned her on the starter, oil light went out after a few short bursts 😀

Thank you, I next need to fit the fairing which is ready but unpainted, then cut the end of the bars back and fit end caps.
I also need to add a brake switch for the rear brake.
Then try and get it matriculated here in Spain.  Unfortunately I have no paperwork for it 😬

Yes, PeWe, no leaks yet.
Cam is Webcam 63a. Valve clearances set at 0.004” for inlets and exhaust. 836 bore by APE. Stage 2 head by Mike Rieck.  Dynoman Heavy duty studs, head and crank.  Dyna 3 ohm coils and leads with Mark Paris resistors. Iridium DR8EX plugs set at .7mm gap.  NGK plug caps with resistors removed.  New points at the moment but I have Dyna S ignition to fit.  Heavy duty cam chain. Original cam chain guide and roller which I examined when I built the engine in 2007, so fingers crossed.  CR29 carbs using velocity stacks and socks.  Starting point is Mains 120, Slow jets 60, Needle in position 4, Airjet 240 and starter jet is 40
MotoGPwerks exhaust.

Yes, you are correct, it’s very early running stages, also got to keep the rpm up on the new cam. 
But I’m generally very happy with the progress so far. No nasty leaks, bad noises or smoke as of yet😃
