Ed March gets about a bit on his C90 cub 😀

I couldn't imagine doing that on a c90, I def want a big bike under me when I go back. That video cracks me up and is pretty damn accurate, so happy he caught an accident on camera lol....I #$%*ing hated driving in traffic there as a passenger....i kept my head down the entire time.

Ed March is on a great adventure  8)

Oil tank was a little rusty inside so, I used hydrochloric acid (muriatic acid) to clean it. It’s now flash rusting ☹️. So I’ve ordered some phosphoric acid (jenolite) hopefully that will clean it and give it a protective coating inside?

Don’t use muriatic acid in the oil tank, it cleans the rust out, then I used phosphoric acid which really just made a mess inside. So I’m thinking of getting another tank which is rust free inside and doing the brazing again.

So I checked out the CR29 carbs to see what jets are installed etc: so that I have a known starting point.  Mains were 120 and slow jets 60, needle clips in 4, as per spec. Air jets are 240, standard spec is 250. Starter jet is 40, standard is 45.  From what I’ve read about that, 40 is better.  I then statically balanced them.
Then installed them and am now working on making barbs, so I can balance them

Surprised the phosphoric mad such a mess? I just bought a jug at a Farm store (1 gallon, probably 75% acid), diluted it 10:1 with water (10) and every rusty crappy thing I throw I. Comes out spotless.

Allan..... i think the name on this jug is ”Dicoloid”. I will take a photo later. Previously, I used to buy “Stern’s Milkstone Remover”. The place I go to is a real Farm Store (in a huge barn on a century farm property). The fellows there said this is the “same stuff”. I pulled more parts out this morning and they are truly spotless. Three of the pieces are the threaded eyelets that connect the choke levers, across the carbs. They were seized solid. After I pull them out, they all screw in and out!

I think that Jenolite contains phosphoric acid. But there’s nothing to say this on this label.  I’m going to try it one more time with a weaker solution. I was hoping for a similar result as your choke lever. Just a thin protective coating that prevents flash rusting

Yes.... I have a home made zinc plating set up that is OK for small stuff.....

But if or when it come loose, it will pass the pump and hopefully stop in oil filter.

Rust in oiltank no problem on running bikes.  Oil prevent rust ;)

Mostly  bikes parked outdoor for decades without oil get rusty oil tanks, right?

You are right PeWe, my oil tank was in a scrapyard in the desert for 30 years. I was really only concerned about the rust inside the top of the tank where the oil doesn’t normally cover except for vapours. I expect I’m being too cautious.

I have been busy re-designing the battery tray and wiring and tank strap support. I will have to put the battery on end, going to use a 12v 12ah AGM.

Curious about the syncing barbs. Do you glue them in? Leave em their permanently? Just drill a hole and pushe them in? I need to do something similar on my chopper with the KZ1000 carbs.

BenelliSEI, I made the barbs from aluminium on my small lathe and drilled holes in the inlet rubbers and pushed them in with bathroom silicone with the intention of leaving them in. But the silicone doesn’t hold them, and they can be pulled out.  So I made some new ones with a little step in the middle, and drilled some hose clampers so the clamp will not let them come out, and also used silicone to put them in, I don’t want to run lean while riding it. I use brake callipers bleed nipple covers on the ends
