I just sent an offer on another CB750. This is a bit off base; Amen frame, But CB750 Power. Including my Rickman (Honda) CR, there are 8 in my shop. The chopper would be #9. K0, K1, K3, K4, K6, K7, K8, Rickman and now potentially one more.

What’s your count? What is “too many”?

How big is your shop? If you can work safely without bumping into something every time you turn around, I'd say you're good.

I would say stop when your bike spend starts to eat into the grocery and essential paper products budget - you're good until then...

When your hobby is to find projects, find parts to them and restore to a good looking bike you can not stop!

It is a fun hobby!
Minimum 2 bikes so there will be one to use when working on the other. Then different types....Stock museum look, cruiser, racer, chopper ......

I think that there are guys here that have all models in almost all colors!

If finding one for a good price, why not?
Original or modified stored in a warm dry place without need to replace half bike for $$$$
Chopper with chromed covers without flaking off. It must cost to repair.

Insurance and license fees keep my plated bikes to 3 but there are 8 or 9 around here. Some are precious to me, a couple, not so much.

Don......same here. K1,3, and K4 are on an ancient State Farm “vintage bike” policy. They are still on, even though they don’t sell the policies any more. Still less than $1000/ year/ total! I pay it promptly, whenever the renewal comes. The Benelli 750 SEI is more than them!

Just bought a 79 BMW airhead R65 w/ 5k original miles & a Kawasaki twin ( estate sale ) & my son just bought a new Husqvarna 701 so i got the 78K ( bike on my profile ) back that we rebuilt together .

So i guess the answer now would be 12 ; yes , 12 is too many .

Don't even ask about cars =)

ive only been riding 4 years and ive got permanent bikes in my collection, 550, 750 cafe, 750 cruiser, 750 chopper. I agree with the "if your hobby if fixing bikes.." line. Ill buy an exhaust pipe I like and inside of a week Im looking for a titled frame and motor to build it out.

Im #$%*ed. I can tell Ill be looking for houses based on storage requirements.

Nah, look for land. Steel buildings are cheap to put up. Land will be a future commodity.

There is a guy a few miles from me that put up a huge barn style building. At the back (inside) there is a 1920’s CP rail car that is actually his home! On rails, permanently hooked up to a well and septic system. The entire roof of the building is solar panels, 100% off grid. He collects old truck and farm machinery. The building is full and one end is a working sawmill, powered by a huge Diesel engine, sitting outside in a “carport”. He’s a retired railway man and my hero.

That's a great idea.

Do the rails extend outside the barn so he can roll out the rail car as a summer home with ventilation?

That's a great idea.

No..... all the wiring, plumbing and drains are permanent hook ups. But, there are three huge roll up doors behind the car, with an outside deck. Really amazing. Next time I visit, I will take a few pics.

You know it has gotten to be too many when you can't tell if you own them or they own you. Another way to tell is if all the stuff scattered around starts to annoy the hell out of you and stops being fun. Been there.

So true! A few years ago, I sold 4 frames, and tons of scrap to “Lash”. Peeved me off, in the end. He built 4 new bikes!
