Don......same here. K1,3, and K4 are on an ancient State Farm “vintage bike” policy. They are still on, even though they don’t sell the policies any more. Still less than $1000/ year/ total! I pay it promptly, whenever the renewal comes. The Benelli 750 SEI is more than them!

You guys should look into Hagerty. I pay $510 per year with 300/500 coverage as long as you have a 1,000,000 rider with some company otherwise you can get the lower values. Also you set the value that the bike is worth if stolen or damaged. Insured aren (3) Z1900, (1) XS2. I soon will be adding a RD350 and the CB550. It will probably only raise it by $40 or so
74 CB550,73 Z1900, 74 Z1900, 75 Z1900,
72 XS2650, 73 RD350, 2013 FJR1300, 84 XJ550 YAM

How do you guys insure your bikes? All comprehensive specific replacement value? I have Geico and am paying $160 per bike for comprehensive and add on value for Yamiya body kits, exhausts and stuff. They didn't charge more for the K0 though....

Unfortunately Haggerty does not do bikes in Canada! I have “agreed value” on the three Honda’s, and frankly, all a bit low. Hey..... I didn’t spend much, and we are all so overinsured!!!!

Here in Sweden special insurance for veterans.
My CB750 K2 cost $70 US/year, full insurance with max value of around $18.000 US.

My K6 has same. I thought it was too cheap so I asked for a more expensive insurance. About $110 US/year. I do not know how much more it will cover. Still very low fee.
Both with no restrictions of use or milage except for only me as driver.

They charge me monthly, automatic from my bank account as all other insurances.

I hope I never need to report a totaled or stolen bike.

Spotty and I picked up 2 more old Yamaha dirt bikes, a DT1 25 and a later DT250 but they're hardly bikes, they're more like rusted out frames with seized engines, but the tank on the DT1 was original and very clean, so good for my RT3, and if the magneto is complete, will get my RT3 back on the road, so I'm happy, plus part of the deal was for a heap of much needed original Z1B parts. If I considered these bikes I'd be up to 25(?) and have 4 more coming shortly, but these two are just too far gone sadly, and only good for some much needed parts. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

All bike restorers are heroes saving the history and old tech!

Really good to be a bike and part hoarder as long as keeping everything dry away from corrosion and rust.

More you can save bigger hero you are! ;) ;)

I used USAA, which did bike insurance through Progressive. Back when AZ had emissions tests for anything 1968 or newer, including old bikes, I insured a CB160 that couldn't pass emissions through a collector insurance company. It was relatively cheap, partly based on my estimate of the bike's value, but allowed me to skip emissions. The stipulation was, however, that you are only allowed to ride it to shows or to get it worked on -- but I ignored that and never had any problems. If I was to get pulled over, "I'm on my way to my buddy's to work on the bike."

This thread motivated me to do a current inventory plus my wife was wishing I had a list and maybe an idea as to what stuff may be worth if tragedy were to befall me.  I've been thinning down the herd the last couple/few years and right now stand at a measly 44 bikes. At my peak at one time I think I was well over 70.  Kind of breaks down right now at 22  1970-76 CB750's, 6 other Honda's,10 Suzuki's,4 Yamaha's and 2 Kaws if I seen them all.
I better get back on the stick here and get to hunting and buying hard again before Uncle Terry catches up to me !  :D  Unfortunately nice old original owner and or paint 750's or other brand vintage iron is getting pretty hard to find right now especially at a rather lower fair price. Tons of stuff leaving the country still like CB750's and Kaw 900's and those buyers are quick and aggressive as I found out last year selling one,but that's a different story.   Happy Hunting if you got the sickness  ;)

Are you picking up that chopper by chance ?     The great thing about your collection is the quality and that means a lot over quantity.   Eric

There is a guy a few miles from me that put up a huge barn style building. At the back (inside) there is a 1920’s CP rail car that is actually his home! On rails, permanently hooked up to a well and septic system. The entire roof of the building is solar panels, 100% off grid. He collects old truck and farm machinery. The building is full and one end is a working sawmill, powered by a huge Diesel engine, sitting outside in a “carport”. He’s a retired railway man and my hero.

That's a great idea.

No..... all the wiring, plumbing and drains are permanent hook ups. But, there are three huge roll up doors behind the car, with an outside deck. Really amazing. Next time I visit, I will take a few pics.

Do the rails extend outside the barn so he can roll out the rail car as a summer home with ventilation?

It could be done.... Just like RV hook ups with flexible hoses...

I never tell the wife how much I actually pay for bikes and parts, so I try not to take her. Last time was 2016 when I bought the FJR1300, but it was  such a bargain I was able to tell the truth for a change, and we had a nice day. ;D

+1, my wife would flip!   I don't use "family" money for the bikes, it comes from my "lunch" money.
I recently sold some Kawasaki project bikes and gave her a little payoff, it was a happy day!

For a while I’d give the wife 500 bucks every time I bought a bike, but that’s getting expensive, so I’ll give her a percentage of the money I get when I sell them now. ;D
