Hi All!

After spending years riding and rebuilding (mainly) sport bikes I took a break due to relocating and the fear of texting drivers. I missed turning wrenches and wanted to get back into bikes, which led to buying someone's 76 CB550 Super Sport cafe racer project.

And by project, I mean 8+ boxes of parts, an engine (needing a cam regrind), and a frame. I took inventory and 4into1 boxes are arriving on the doorstep daily so I'm looking forward to the help from this forum!

Welcome... a lot of us have been there!

BTW - the CB650 cam is a drop-in upgrade, I'd do that instead of grinding

Good to know! No other parts from the 650 needed to make it work?

As mentioned above the 650 cam does seem to be pretty rare. I found a 550 motor pretty cheap locally that I may pull the trigger on if the cam is in decent shape.

79-82 sohc 650 cam is what you need. Also the 650 tach drive as its a different ratio. Tach drive cable to go with it. The 650 tach. Also the 750 tach works ive read just not sure on what years.
