Had my booster on Monday. They just started offering it to people under 50 (I'm 44). It was pfizer and all I had was a bit of fatigue the fist evening. Fine after that.

My Ma (93) was told that one of her old school friends, who's also my godmother (94) who's in a nursing home with a little bit of dementia, had Covid. My Ma (who still lives at home) rang the nursing home to ask how she was. She was surprised when her friend answered the phone, and sounded fine. Turns out that just about every resident in that nursing home has covid, but no-one's particularly ill because they've all had their jabs and booster shots, so the staff aren't telling them when they test positive, so as not to frighten them, they're just telling their families to warn them. Much better than last year when 800 unvaccinated oldies in 3 nursing homes here died from Covid. I guess the vaccine works. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I got my Moderna booster yesterday, left arm feels a bit tender, but no big deal. Had an Antigen test in France 2 weeks ago, Negatif  ;D

I must have missed this thread but I will put in my two cents. My doctor told me I had Covid back in January 2020. That was back when the virus was still in infancy and even though I went to the ER because of the hard to breathe and the constant cough, they tested me and could not find anything. This was after a week and a half of being sick.

They did give me steroids and antibiotics and breathing treatments and a scrip for more stuff and in the next couple of days I was ok and on the mend. But I was terribly sick and would not want to go through that again.

So to my point, I got the shots as soon as they were available and got the booster a couple of months ago. Only side effect was a sore arm the next day.

I am older guy and probably would not survive another bout of that crap. Just saying.

Had the j&j in march. Slight sore arm for a bit, but very minor. Had the phizer booster, same thing. Did dominant arm and then used it as normal. Probably helped to disperse things and keep it from hirting much.

Had Moderna booster Wed and sore arm and pretty tired next day, but no reaction.

Best thing you can do for any vaccine or shot is to drink plenty of water the next few days...

I'm still OK after the two shots and a booster. Moderna. We may have had it last year with few symptoms. Daily activity is OK, going to the gym not as much. From what I've read I may be a long hauler. Doctor appt in a couple weeks.

The wife and I had the AstraZeneca first and second jabs, and on Friday last we had the Pfizer booster. We both thought we had a bit of a sore arm the next day, but otherwise, no side effects. My sister in Brisbane told me that my niece has Covid, probably the latest Omricon strain, she's had the two shots but not the booster, and her symptoms were a sore throat and a mild cold. My sis, her husband and their other daughter have all had the booster, and they tested negative. The niece's boyfriend is staying at the sis' place with her and the fam, because his sister is about to have a baby and they didn't want her to catch covid, or worse, give it to the baby. ;D

The latest Covid, Omricon is much milder for most people, right? But more contagious.
It seems that it develops in right direction for us.

Yep, I forgot to mention that my wife's niece was diagnosed with Omricon on yesterday too Per, but like my niece in Brisbane, she's all vaxxed up, so not very sick at all. if she wasn't vaxxed, that might be a different story. Of the 500 Aussies in hospital, including 150 on respirators, the majority have not been vaccinated. Why? ;D

They tell you which variant you have? Here in the US, there only a couple places doing this test, as it's very expensive. My understanding is that they get a % of samples and test them by area. They are never matched up to individual names. They just use the data to figure out which variant is prominent in different areas.

Got a Moderna booster today (first two were AtraZeneca). Didn't even feel the jab, just a little dead arm now 12 hours later, but no side effects.

My first two shots were in Mexico and I have a Mexican vax certificate. I'm traveling to the UK Wednesday and there they don't accept the Mexican certificate (apparently because it doesn't have my birth date on there). But today the woman at Walgreen's wrote me out a CDC card that listed the first two AstraZeneca jabs and then the third from today, and since it has my birth date on there I am hoping that is enough to avoid quarantine when I get there.

...and it was. I've got a UK passport and went right through. I filled out the travel forms in advance. And today I did the pre 2-day at-home test and mailed it in -- after going for a long walk on the seafront since I'm not required to quarantine.

A friend in Mexico got the Moderna booster a few days ago and had tough symptoms, thought he had covid. But he tested negative.

For the first time someone I know personally, one of my windsurfing buddies, caught it last week. He's ok, only mild, 2x vaxxed but no booster yet. Our windsurfing club had its AGM last Saturday week. For the meeting, we sat outside in the shade of a large tree on chairs  socially distanced. Out of about 15 at the meeting nobody else has come down with it. Quite a few of us are in our 60s & 70s.
I've had my two shots plus booster.  My state atm is 95% double vaxxed, 42% so far have booster, but infections are still too high.

Well the Omicron variant is ripping through the community, and more folks are dying on a daily basis than were most days last year, but as Krusty has affirmed, with such high vaccination rates, for the majority of us, it's more of an annoyance than a worry. My wife's neice's family (Mum, Dad and three little girls) all have it, but everyone seems to be OK. The niece's husband seems to be the worst affected, neither he or the niece has had the third jab yet though.

On the flip side, my mate who copped Covid while at hospital receiving chemo in March 2020 (and almost died then) died last week. I presumed it was from cancer, which certainly was a contributing factor as his immune system was shot, but I was told that he contracted covid again, and didn't make it.

Sorry to hear of these losses. This has been devastating and has likely touched everyone's lives at this point.

Having been boosted and currently traveling, I've had to take a few mandated tests: to get into the USA (X2), to get into the UK and 2 days after I got here, and I'll take another at home before I go meet my kid, wife, and her parents. But with self-administered rapid tests available free now in the USA (and available here in the UK) I wonder if this will become part of the new normal: testing after being at a high-risk event, or testing before meeting up with someone who is vulnerable (like my father-in-law, who is diabetic). I've had friends who told me they did so on holiday trips to see relatives and they continued to test negative, but they caught two people who were positive (and who then skipped the event). I think it's something I may start doing (although I'm still being pretty careful). Anyone else thinking about this?

Yep, my youngest boy works in the TV/Movie industry (film crew) and has to take a RAT before going to every new job, and as I have a Veteran Affairs Gold card I'm entitled to so many free RAT's per month. I think there's a bit of a shortage of them though, so I won't go claim any unless I need one, I'll let the toilet paper hoarders spend their money on them instead..... ;D

Confused how this is a side effect of the vaccine.

Have we changed the subject of this thread?
