CB400F Carb part - Where does it go? Help!

I was getting ready to take apart the number 1 carb to clean and rebuild it and as I turned it in my hand the little part in the pics below fell out/off.  Anyone know what it is, and more importantly, where it goes?  I didn't see where it came from - just heard it hit the bench.  I have the carb back together and I am not seeing where this fits in.  Choke seems to operate normally and has all "detents" through its range of motion as far as I can tell.

Carbs 2-4 did not have this part as far as I can tell.

I think it's this guy.

If not, it's in the slide lifter mechanism somewhere. The side with the protrusion butts up against a spring, whereas the side with the dimple holds a ball bearing in place.

Yes this is in the lift mechanism, in the part with the sync screws on top. The lift arm ball goes between two like that, lower one on a spring and upper one pushed down by the adjuster screw. So you adjust the individual slide height (for sync, but for all four together to have the idle screw and choke cam work properly) by screwing in/out the sync screw which raises/lowers the slide height relative to the lift arm position.
The two - lower and upper - may be different but I don't remember if they are.

Bodi your correct in the location and no difference between the two in size, so it can be placed on the top or bottom section.

Just wanted to say thanks for everyone's answers.  I took apart carbs 1 and 2 and compared and y'all were spot on.  I got the piece installed and everything buttoned up.  Carbs are back on the rack, adjustments made, and synched.

Installed back on the bike using the ratchet strap trick from the site.  Have to finagle the airbox-side boots onto the carbs, but I think I might have an idea for that.

this part, 1/2 of the ball socket has to be the most valuable part on the whole bike. it's gotta be near tungsten grade, it never wears enough to measure, it's never corroded or cracked, it's always under tension, and delivers pinpoint accuracy to the slides. they actually built things with durability for reasons to last forever.
