The license plate is from Shinjuku Ward apparently a "city ward" of Tokyo.
At least that's what Google says. A suburb from looking at the map.

Thanks! Next time I have it off I’ll make a note on the back.

“James H” provided these lovely clamps (identical to the originals) for manifolds and air box. Expensive, but worth it.

Been fiddling with the clutch and the plates would not break loose. Gave up and got into it. When removed, they lifted out in three separate, glued together “slugs”…… easily popped apart with a thin scraper. Clean, smooth, lubricate, reinstall. Eat, sleep, and repeat!

Getting there. Now, if I could only find my clutch centre nut socket?

Bill……… Sticky! Just dried up, old oil. Nothing broken off or chipped. Cleaned off two and measured them up. Both are 0.20 mm above the minimum thickness dimension and compare nicely to a new set I have. Four springs are well over the minimum free length. All the metal plates are nice and flat. They also need a good clean, but planning to reuse everything.

Found the centre nut socket, so no excuses.

Glad you found the clutch nut socket...hope the clutch clean up goes well. Solvent (diesel or kerosene) or fresh oil and scrub to clean up the old oil?

David…… Solvent on the discs and the plates need some fine sand paper too. These plates have been stuck together for at least 48 years…..

Kevin….. Unfortunately this one seems to need a lot of extra attention! I complain, but truthfully, I’m throughly enjoying the process.

Cleaned  the fibre plates really well, sanded all the rust and goo off the metal plates and carriers. Everything measured well above the min. specs., plates are nice and flat, so back it all went. Clean with a slight oil film. Torqued and lock tabbed.

Buttoned it all up. Cable installed and actuator adjusted, all works as it should.

This part of the project is 100% done. Seat and tank to finish the job……..

Thanks Bill and Stu. I’ve managed to spend a bit more time and money than usual on this one! I think the final outcome will be worth it.

A few small bits, including the tank chrome strips, arrived this aft. Ordered from Yamiya about six days ago. Great service!

Well, while you may have spent a bit more on the bike the Sandcasts are worth 2-3x or more than the run of the mill cb750k. It's value only increases unless the bottom falls out of the market, then it's value relatively speaking remains the same or still increases based on rarity.

You have done a great job with this one. Hope your PDR guy comes through with great results too.

Thanks David. I talked to him this am and he still hasn’t done it! Lit a fire under him! In addition to the seat building, I also have to remember to pick up the original petcock from the guy that vapour blasts for me. It’s totally unique to the first bikes and I want to rebuild it and install it back where it belongs…..

Honestly…. After the conversation yesterday, I only want to hear from him one more time. He’s the only guy in Ontario that would do a motorcycle tank. Wish I’d just posted it off to someone more reliable.

Early this morning I had a good long look over the S/C. Ended up working on my much ignored cb750K3. It needed a RHS bar switch replaced and the starter motor safety switch bypassed (it’s been behaving wierdly for a while). There is nothing left to do on the ‘69. Called my buddy Terry and heading to his place on Friday morning to tackle the seat rebuild.

Celebrated by taking the K3 for a nice ride, followed by a swim in our pond.
