Here’s the 582nd SOHC cb750 engine built. It’s totally undamaged, and I had it running well before starting the restoration. It is several hundred numbers lower than the frame. The “experts” suggest that S.Honda was pulling random motors off the line and dyno testing them for a few days, followed by a full strip down for inspection. Because the sand casting method was slow, they got rebuilt and inserted back on the production line. Interesting!
Plan is to give the bores a light hone, fresh rings, and do the top end. All gaskets, seals and “0” rings too. It had no chain rattle at all, so replace all the cam chain tensioners, but stop there.
