Beautiful work John, and I know all about long balls, I sat on mine yesterday! Those K70 tyres look great, I bought a pair for my Suzuki T500 because the wheels I bought from the US were shod with 40(+) year old K70's and with the limited rides I've done on it, they feel fine. They were more expensive than the Stinko's I usually buy, but worth it for that "Period" look.

Terry..... I mounted them on my K0 and they really do look “right”. I did use the Shinkos on the Rickman and they look good there. Perfect price to roll around on and first rides!

I’m taking my time on this one, enjoying it one part at a time. Hub and fork legs are ready. Despite more snow, heading out to pick them up later today.

Are the early tires block front and back? I've always thought it was rib front block back.

I used the conti twins on the nugget, I ran continentals way back when and liked them. The diecast got K70/K81? something like that.

I believe you are correct, but I’ve used this combo a few times and it looks and works well.

Picked up a few shiny bits today. A few years ago, I found a local guy that polishes parts for local Hot Rodders and “Big Rig” truck guys. Works for cash (very reasonable) and considers my parts as “miniatures”! I need to clean the black “swarf” from the holes and threads, but nice work.

Next on the work list is to finish the front end and get a wheel on this project. I’ll be happier when it is safely clamped on the work table. I’m cleaning up the set of red fork ears that are the originals to this bike. They are definitely “well loved” but 754 FRANK convinced me. All the original red bits are getting polished up and going back on. I hope he’d have approved. He was really annoyed when I sold the Carlini Chopper last year. Partial Atonement?

It’s tough to keep shiny, but for +20 years I did a lot more of it! 1957 Lotus Eleven, Series 1. I restored and raced it from 1986-2007. This “three wheeling” shot was taken at Waterford Hills, Mich. Note the twist in the outside wheels. Broke a lot of spokes.

Mothers Aluinium and Mag wheel polish is my go to, it;s long lasting and easier to look after than Autosl.

I find today’s “expert restorers” are not polishing even close to what was original. They claim to have the correct scratch patterns and finishes. The same for frame paint.

True! I did follow the advice on paint, but the polishing is to “my choice”. My biggest challenge to my self is to reuse 99% of the parts and hardware that came on the original machine. It’s easy to just order new…..

Last week I complained to Vintagecb750.com about a set of new fork caps that only screwed into the new tubes a half turn and then stopped. I stripped all the chrome off the threads and then worked them with a metric thread chaser file. With some good anti-seize compound, I worked them in and out a few times and they were just “acceptable”.

To their credit, I received a written apology, followed the next day by a set of new tubes and two sets of caps! New caps threaded nicly into the tubes I’d already assembled, so nice “spares” on my shelf. This week I plan to finish the front end!

It can be expensive to have leftover parts in the garage when they start to whisper about all missing parts to complete them.....

I'm now in the orderering phase due to some parts I had extra I bought a registered frame to 1 1/2 year ago followed by other parts. All small stuff cost some. Ingnition cover has silly prices!

But fork tubes only must be safe.

Got the fork tubes assembled today using a seal driver I built for the K0. Worked perfectly

Got everything ready for wheel building (front) and the rear swing arm, fender and tail light fitted. Starting to look like a bike! My buddy Gary came by and we hoisted the engine into the stand. He’s so “Covid Bored” he’s scraping and washing down the engine before we pull the head. I hate that job, so fed him a very nice lunch. He earned it!

You will love it. I had my entire Kawasaki engine [heads, cylinders and case] vapor blasted a few years ago before a total rebuild.

Steve.... a friend had a few castings done locally and they really look fantastic. The block and head are so hard to prep that I’m excited by any option. Did you paint or leave unfinished?
