Received the back ordered Yamiya “two hole” hardware kit for the new air box. This was one of the parts totally missing from this bike. Rainy day, so put it together. Their parts are getting pricey, but totally exceptional stuff! Time to get back on this project.....

Just an FYI.

Everett powersports stocks a lot of Yamiya parts here in the US. There is a good chance if Yamiya doesn’t have it in stock, they do.

I’m sure many may know this already, but incase some don’t.

I’ve also asked them very specific questions about parts and they knew what they were talking about which is always nice when your buying parts.

Didn’t know that. They do provide excellent, speedy service.

Georgeous Fall weather here today. Opened the shop doors to actually let some heat IN. Tidied the place up a bit. Full summer of endurance racing the Lexus and Echo meant I only was in the bike shop for specific “do it now” tasks. Rolled the S/C back on the work table. Looking forward to getting back on it soon.

Thanks! Made an effort to stay out of the shop this summer, but the weather is closing down. Back in there soon.

Same thing here! It's starting to get cold, so I started to work more in the shop!

Yes, nice move.
It's good to get a change of scenery when you retire.
We sold our house in Davis, California and I "retired" to another job here on Maui with the Dept. of Transportation, worked at that for a bit and retired again.
I still work a little bit but not much, mostly hobbies, taking care of the house and now hanging with my 12 year old grandson some more.

Here’s the 582nd SOHC cb750 engine built. It’s totally undamaged, and I had it running well before starting the restoration. It is several hundred numbers lower than the frame. The “experts” suggest that S.Honda was pulling random motors off the line and dyno testing them for a few days, followed by a full strip down for inspection. Because the sand casting method was slow, they got rebuilt and inserted back on the production line. Interesting!

Plan is to give the bores a light hone, fresh rings, and do the top end. All gaskets, seals and “0” rings too. It had no chain rattle at all, so replace all the cam chain tensioners, but stop there.

That junky car guy on TV filled a pair of cylinders with rope and then turned the motor over. I doubt the 4 little 6mm threads would be happy with that scenario though. His project was a model A ford flathead.

Blank off two cylinders with plywood and studs (2-4 might be the best)
Fill the two cylinders with a spacer of a firm but soft material that won’t harm the pistons, Delrin or UHMW comes to mind.
Bolt block down
Turn the crank from the alternator side
It may push them off
Just an idea
Try 3-2 while you are at it.

Curious how you would blank off the cylinders? The studs go through to the block......... also concerned about using rod bearings as a press.

Thinking I may have to make some kind of jig that grabs the unit and then expanding, threaded blocks that press it up and off the block.... meantime, still soaking.
