I’ve been aware of it for decades, just have not used it. I hear it’s good stuff.

Cool and rainy today, so I went down to the shop and cleaned up. Rushing to prep the K1 and the K3 for the Ganaraska 250 left a bit of a “trail” in there…….

Decided to do a bit more on the top end of the s/c motor. Cam towers and cam are in, making sure all the marks are in the right places. Rockers and shafts next time. New “pucks” got a very thin ring of “Hondabond”. Lots of lube on the cam bearing surfaces and two drops of Locktite on the cam gear locating screws. Everything pulled down nicely, no helicoils so far!

Absolutely. More hours riding/ less in the shop!

After this project, I need to finish the Rickman CR and I have a very nice K6 waiting for a good clean up and fresh engine. No rush, at all.

Finished up the top end today. All pulled down nicely, and valve clearances are done too. So much easier with the cam cover off!

Steve…….. will be painting it. Started the painful process of final cleaning everything and then masking up “spare” covers today. Then the motor has to come out of the stand, so I can paint the “arse end”. I then put it back in the stand, flip it upside down and do all the paint from the bottom. Flip it up and paint everything again, from the top.

As I keep saying, not in a rush. Determined to do other stuff instead. We are also heading off to Calabogie next weekend, for another double header. 2 X 8 hour races in the Lexus, coming up!

This is the paint I use here. Seems some people are using something with “ceramic” added? Curious to know more.

Hi John...yes, the Dupli-Color paint I use is "enamel with ceramic", color is Aluminum DE 1615

https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/c/engine-enamel-with-ceramic/dupli-color-12-ounce-aluminum-spray-paint/dplg/de1615

"Dupli-Color Engine Enamel contains Ceramic Resins for maximum heat dissipation and gloss retention"

I believe ceramic is best for high heat applications. I'm going to have the GTO's exhaust manifolds ceramic coated as opposed to powder coating so the coating will hold up.

Ask Mark, HondaMan, I think he just used the Duplicolor ceramic formula on the K0 he is rebuilding. Even if he didn’t, he would know about it…he’s just that way. Given his side gig is rebuilding lots of motors over the past couple years he likely has used the ceramic before if he isn’t currently using it.

I’m not sure what the ceramic is in the paint, I’ve used it, seems like a good product.

Yamiya finally showed the “red foam” seat kits back in stock. Stupid money plus $140 shipping! But, I really want to restore my original seat, so pulled the trigger. Ouch.

Shipping here to Maui can be as high as the price of the item.

So true! I’m not that deep into this one, although it’s staggering how fast the spend is moving along. I swore I was not going to restore another one, after the K0 “show bike”, but I’m actually enjoying the leisurely pace on this one!
