“Lash” came by today with a full set of case and engine bolts for this project. He found a shop near the Toronto airport that did 3/4 of a bucket of hardware for $100 cash! When I’m finished painting the engine, I will change these out one at a time. Sweet!
Very cool John! I need to find someone local to do bolt plating.
Me too Stu.

Nice bolts!
I've long wanted to do 'nice' bolts to my steed, using the 8mm hex-head-with-integral-washer as seen on the CB650 bikes. I once rebuilt an engine for someone (I think he lives in Canada) and he had managed to find a complete set of them for his engine, which he sent to me for the reassembly. It looked fantastic! He paid over $70 CAD for them all (this was like 10 years ago?) but the vendor was gone when I tried to contact him later on.

Someday...?

Well, the flat rate medium sized USPS box can be used to ship the bolts to a friend near or to the plater if you can get them to play along. USPS post offices generally have the medium flat rate longer rectangular shaped boxes but would have to order the square shaped ones. Fwiw
Those with US addresses can order flat rate USPS  shipping boxes from USPS at no charge and they are dropped off at your house or mailing address.

But the flat rate doesn't include Canada anymore.

Were the bolts zinc or chrome?
I have thought of using the chrome dome head bolts from a GL1100 that I tore down and scrapped. They look great. I'll take some pictures of them when I get down in the shop in a bit.

The Paintless Dent Remover came up to my area to work on a stunning, red Honda NSX. Some one opened a door against it and left a nasty dent on an immaculate car. Dropped him my tank, fingers crossed.

I dropped off 3 gas tanks and 2 oil tanks to my PDR guy. He's really busy now so he says should have them by the end of the month.

I have been trying to learn a little pdr myself.  Bought a variety of 4 picks (I Guess that is what you call them) that turned up on marketplace for $25.  I think you can get the same ones from Eastwood Co.  Having an extremely stable and sturdy work stand is gonna be key to not overdoing it.  I have been just using the stock mounts...not really stable enough although I whipped up some tank rubbers out of plywood that fit nice and tight and help a lot...plenty of beat up old bikes around here to practice on.  I am having some success but I have a lot more practicing to do!
If it works good, it looks good...

So after a long break, I’m back on this. Lots of room in the shop. The cb750K8 and the K7 are sold and gone. A CVMG member has decided to bring along his trailer in about 10 days (He and his wife have retired in New Brunswick, but are visiting Family in Ontario for a few weeks). He’s asked me to “hold” the K6 until then.

The Cobble Beach Concours is in 11-12 weeks and this has to be done for that! Today I got the back end out of the engine stand. Final cleanup and paint to all the parts that I can’t reach when it’s back in the rotating stand. Ready for paint.

Congrats on the K6 John.
Ingenuity on lifting it without hurting you or anyone else is always the way to go.
I bought a Hoya Lift(patient lift) to lift mine in and out when I get back to it.

Stu…….Good choice. My method is somewhat “weather dependent”!

Having sold the other two, I’m in no rush for the K6. I like it a lot…… there will be no negotiation. My price is firm, or I keep it.

More engine cleaning and prep today. Too wet/damp for engine paint, but pretty much ready for the next nice day. Down to my last alternator cover, so may have to mask up the polished original for this one. That cover is always the one that takes the biggest beating!

Just occurred to me….. I wonder if the one on the cb750A is the same?

Sorting parts to finish my this project. Came across these manifolds. All four are stamped with a tiny “410”. Individually stamped 1,2,3, and 4. Anyone know what cb750 they belong too?

Yes John the A uses the same alternator case.

And the "A" alternator produces more watts.
