John, you may need to go to that PDR as$h*t and take it away from him unfinished;the man may have issues and I would not trust it.

I hear you! I’m going to go looking for him in the morning.

Unbelievable! Just got these photos via text. He’s working on it in his garage at home. This is side that was punched in! Promised to finish up tonight. Relief!

Stu and Daviid….. Fingers crossed! Jake….. I’ll show him your photo.

I’ll be interested to see if/ how he works the other side. It’s small, but a good ding.

This was the only one I could find near me that would do a motorcycle tank.

He called and it’s done. Pick up this afternoon. $300. 😀

The PDR guy drove me nuts, but in the end did a superb job. Still lots to do. Vacuumed it out and rinsed out any traces of old gas with methyl hydrate.

Tomorrow it will get the phosphoric acid/water (“Terry Juice”) treatment for 24 hours. Followed by a quick rinse with gas and two stroke oil brew. Then a serious cleaning, detailing, polish and wax. I have a new cap, side badges and bottom trim strips.

Today I couldn’t resist mocking it in place. The top of the tank is very “orange” and matches the other body parts more than the photo suggests. Everything I need to finish this is finally in my shop. I will sleep well tonight!

Thanks guys! Just in time….. In just over two weeks I have to load this bike and head off to the Cobble Beach Concours. I rarely attend shows, but this one is an exception. A truly fantastic event.

Congrats John, all within reach of completion and you will be able to accomplish it without too much difficulty. I'm happy that in the end your tank came out nice from the PDR guy. Presumably you got your tank hold down device returned with your tank.

Hope your slumber is peaceful and deep...filled with pleasant dreams!

He pretty much destroyed it! I have the bits. This project has easily been my most challenging, but thoroughly enjoying it.

I hope John will choose another PDR person in the future, although the person did complete the tasks.. Finally.
I have met individuals who have tested my patience very much;I don't plan to have anymore dealings with them in the future.

I remember the early restore thoughts of this project where Frank eagarly stated to preserve the patina so its age is visible.

The tank and side covers are the very original from inside and out.

I see however, no problem to have an extra costume ordered from Yamiya in a favourite color of a 69 ;D ;D

Frank would be happy to see the final with its future trophees.

A Lotus Root 4-4 system next?
This very bike had a set from the very beginning?

Per….. I think of Frank whenever I decide on a finish! The body work is my own small tribute to the way he pestered me at the start of this thread. “Only original once” and “it all tells a story”…..

I have the original pipes and will eventually restore them to go back on the bike. The Yamiya “no number” pipes are an excellent substitute for now.
