I would have to think long and hard about removing that dent..
 Every mark on an original bike had a story, part of its life.. it adds character. . And it reflects it being used..And a life lived..
 A shiny restored bike.. it just looks new and perfect.. no stories.. sort of sterile. . Almost like kept in a box and not taken out..

 Ever take a look at early original bikes from the 20,s and down... usually worth more than the restored ones..
 So yeah on this one , you can harm the value by restoring it, plus  deplete your savings.

Even though Frank did not want the dent removed, it was the right thing to do and he would now approve!

Thanks Steve….. Were it not for the Cobble Beach invitation I’d still be poking along on it. “Terry and Spotty” would probably have done it in a few weeks! I was determined not to rush it. I’m very happy with the original bodywork and I’m sure Frank would like it too. Coincidentally I received my 24 Rides in 2024 key tag today. I’ll hang on the bike key ring  for the show.

The decals for the rear shocks arrived from England today, so that will be the last little detail. “Lash” has an original red air box, that I might sub in for the Yamiya replica?

We have some friends visiting from Calgary the next few days but after that I’m definitely taking this one for a ride. Followed by a final clean up and load for the show, next weekend. Phew.

Kevin…… I pick the fuel filters up at a local lawn mower/ small engine repair shop. The guy keeps a box of them on the counter and gives them away to paying customers or $0.99 each.

The lines lay nicely in place, because they are new, Honda hose. I also have an invisible tie holding the one from carbs #1 and #2 down against the carb plate so it can’t get near the choke mech.

Off the table this morning and rode it a few miles. Clutch is lovely, sweet idle, and runs well. Rings will need to settle down in the fresh bores, but no smoke! All good and I’m DONE!

Cobble Beach Concours this weekend and the weather looks sunny and hot.

Seal the rings?
A 100km ride with a 20 minutes warm up in legal speedd followed by 4000rpm bursts followed by throttle offs decelerating.
 Next 5000 and finally a few 6000.
Important to grind them while bores are still rough. I read somewhere that the window is narrow, before 200km.

Thanks! I’m not a show goer, but this event is very cool. Really looking forward to it and it looks like the weather will be cooperating too. Last time I took one of my Hondas, I did well. The original finish on this one may not add any points, but I like it.
