Carb Choke Linkage Boss - Adhesive? Galvanic Corrosion?
« on: February 08, 2021, 08:44:08 AM »
I just got through ultrasonic cleaning of the carbs from my CB750K0. The only two areas that seem to require more attention are (1) the bowl gasket areas on the carb bodies where it looks like liquid gasket may have been used and (2) the choke linkage bosses that all appear to have some sort of adhesive or galvanic corrosion on them. I don't really understand how that area doesn't leak air into the air passage via the choke slide opening.

Anybody ever seen this before?

Thanks 69cb750. I was browsing through some old photos and noticed it has been there since the time I inherited the bike. Any idea what it is, if it should be cleaned off, and how? I don't know if there is risk of damaging that thin plate with too much scraping.

Use a small brass brush to clean it up. You can also use metal rescue gel, covered with plastic wrap then rinse.

Thanks for the ideas! I ended up using a brass parts brush, blue Scotch-Brite pad, and a bit of acetone.
