Alright fellas it's time to kick off the 2021 race season.  There will be an ET bracket race in conjunction with other classes at the Hogs  Gone Wild event at Silver Dollar Dragway on February 27th. I don't know if we have anyone on this forum that drag  races anymore besides myself, but I've made plans to compete at this event. There's a combined purse of $4000 on the line so I'm going down in hopes of getting my piece of the pie.

If anyone reading this has thoughts of racing, or just spectating at this event, at least drop a comment so I'll know to look for you.

Bill Benton,  Wilbur or Mark, in box me if think you're coming. Sorry about the late notice fellas.  Come kick off the race season with me.

I can't say I drag race, but I'm interested. Silver Dollar is a little less than two hours from my house.

I've looked at the HGW site and FB page but still have questions. What time is registration/practice, entry fee, safety regulations (do I need a tether)? Obviously my road race bike would be a bit of a fish out of water, but that's what bracket racing is for right?

Here ya go. I doubt you need to worry about tech inspection at this race for ET bracket.

Thank you!

So if I'm reading this correctly, we get two runs at 1:00 to set our dial in?

Yes, we'll get 2 time runs at 1pm. I  hope you can make it down. Should be decent weather and a great turnout of racers.

Good deal. I'll be a fish out of water, but sounds like fun!

We all have to get our feet wet sometimes. And as they say,, Life is to short not to step out of our comfort zone.

Thanks for the head's up! This is all the better for me honestly.

I'll shoot for being there about 8 since I'll just have the bike in the back of the pickup without much to set up.

Shout-out to Matthew for coming down to the Hogs Gone Wild race today(Saturday). With no prior drag racing experience,  he jumped right into the fire. Unfortunately we were only allotted 1 time run prior to eliminations so his practice was cut short. Nevertheless,  he did good  but dealt with clutch slippage and it affected his ET, ending his day.

Looking forward to having him join us again soon.

I don't want to hear anymore excuses from anyone that says they can't drag race their bikes. Here's a great example of a purpose built road race bike that made it first debut as a drag bike. This young racer stepped out of his comfort zone to come have a day of fun. If he can do it, you can too.

Yes, that's my ugly face in the background watching over this courageous rider..

I made it to the final 4. We had 80 bikes in the class. Younger opponent strapped a .006 reaction time on me.. To much to recover.. Took home $500. Paid my expenses at least. Got down to the quarter finals in the 5.60 index class. No payback for that unfortunately.  Had fun nevertheless.  I can the years are catching up to me but I'm not giving up.
