CB750K0/K1 rear turn signal attachement
« on: February 20, 2021, 01:14:13 PM »
Hi there,
I am looking for a close up photo or diagram of how the rear turn signals attach to the frame. I have the parts but I am not sure I have got it right. Does it simply slot into the rear frame and this is held in place by the 14 mm bolt? Can you help?

Thanks
Andy

They mount to the rear grab rail, on the tabs facing down. There is a rubber wrapper around the hanger, between the hanger and the turnsignal's bracket, with a screw passing thru to hold it on. They often hanged non-horizontal: bending the outer hanger flanges inward can help level them again.

K1 sorry the photo is a tiny bit blurred as I was one handing the iPad.
But you can make out the typical Honda welding.

Good shot. On K0/1 the small grab handle goes on top. Usually, only on the other side  (left).

Zoom in my photos of my Swedish K2 that was delivered with K1 style blinkers and rear fender as all K2's here 1972-75.

One small grab rail on left side.
Routing the wires might be done better.

I can go into my garage for a close-up.

Thanks everyone thats really helpful and answers my questions. I am trying to find a way to mount rear turn signals and a rear frame with saddlebags. This has helped a lot.
Much appreciated,

The small grab handle is european/uk market and there are seperate black painted steel mountings, us are mounted to a wrap arround grab rail

On a K0 or K1? I don’t think they had full grab rails...... My K0 and K1 don’t.

Ok with the rack that I have I dont think I can squeeze in K1 mounted turn signals. Instead it may have to go up on the rear rack. Not a huge fan of this but seems the most practical. Thoughts?

Yes they are removable. However, I was hoping to keep the turn signals close to the frame like the K0/K1 style but once I mounted the rack I saw that wasnt possible. Ill mount some to the rack and see how they look but I think its going to be too high and will stick out too much.

Yes..... but really they do need to be visible when you’re loaded up. That location looks pretty good.

Never seen a K0 or K1 here in UK, they do exist but not many left, all ours(or most of them) were K2 till K6

K1, K2 and K6 hade same blinkers here in Sweden. K0 looked like K1-K2 (except for German K0 model I have seen)

K6 got the bigger grab rail around the rear part of seat completely. I think US K2 got it.

The blinker fastener changed om K6 with a rod making them to stick out.

My old Shoei bags had own blinkers. Original blinkers on my K6 off since there were no space for them and not visible either when rack was full. Tent sleeping bags etc. Top of bags had stuff strapped on top.

Get yourself an extra taillight mounting bracket(to save your original) and mount the turn signals to the tl bracket if you want them down lower than the rack. You could even paint or pc the extra bracket to match the rack....

Question: can I run aftermarket turn signals on the rear with only one black wire? If so what will ground the turn signals?

Thinking of getting these to mount to the rear rack:

https://4into1.com/reproduction-honda-turn-signal-single-filament-set-of-2-cb175-200-350-450-500-750/

Currently the K4 OEM stock rear turn signals have two wires - one coming from the turn signal and one wire attached to the mounting collar.

Thanks
Andy

The stock set up carries a ground because the base is mounted in rubber. The lamps you are looking at (great price!), ground through their chrome plating, when clamped to a grounded stalk. If you bolt your signal stalks directly to the rack, and the rack is bolted to your frame, there will be a ground. You can check the ground with your test light. Clip it to the + terminal on your battery. The lamp should light when you ground against the engine, frame, rack, stalk, lamp housing etc. If not, just attach a ground wire under the mounting nut for the stalk, and connect it to the ground (green) in your tail lamp harness.

P.S. That single black wire, on the aftermarket lamps, is the POWER feed. Connect it to the orange and blue turn signal wires in your stock harness.
