Daytona Velona wiring issue
« on: February 20, 2021, 02:57:20 PM »
Hello everyone,
Today I tried to replace the old speedo of my cb550 with a Daytona Velona 60. I am a complete newbie when it comes to electronics. So I bough a very basic speedo. However I still have some issues!

With the speedometer I also bought a speed pulse converter cable. I attached a picture with the instructions of both.

I connected the red and black of the Velona to where previously the red (12 acc) and black (gnd) of the old speedometer were connected. Then I connected the white of the Speedo to the yellow of the converter cable. I then connected Red and black of the converter to the same place I connected red and black of the Speedo.

The Speedo turns on but I think that it gets no signal. Any idea why?
Also...do I have to connect the yellow cable (battery 12v) anywhere?

Thanks in advance and apologies if the problem is extremely silly

On the stock bike, BLACK wires are not Grounds, they are switched 12v. Solid GREEN in your stock harness is Ground.

Thanks for the reply.
The speedo turns on so I think I connected it right.
I don’t get what I am supposed to do with the yellow (batt) cable of the Speedo.
