Holes are missing for the horn on my CB750
« on: February 22, 2021, 04:04:42 pm »
Hi all, does anyone know where my holes have gone for the horn on my K2 750! Every frame i’ve seen has two holes and captive nuts on the tab by the headstock, but mine has no holes. Has anyone come across this, and where would you put the horn? Cheers Steve

Hi Ekpent, the bracket is there, doesn’t look like holes have been filled, seems like they were never there. Steve

Drill holes, install horn. It appears the stock bracket is no longer there but this one is.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.
If you love it, set it free, if it stays it's probably one of my 750's.

Thanks Don, is mine not the stock bracket? Haven’t looked closely at other bikes as I assumed mine was stock. Yep I was going to drill holes in the bracket unless someone told me I had a super rare frame lol! Cheers Steve

I'm pretty sure that didn't come there, can't say why someone would weld on a different one. Maybe they were going to install a steering dampener?

That bracket look much thicker.

Here is a stock bracket on a K2 frame I have. Next project in need of new paint.

Photos from under.

Horn bracket and horn must stay away from it when turning.
My running K2 with stock horn and steering damper touch a little, damper vs horn.

Photo of my K6 that need a clean and wax. Not stock horn.

+1...looks like someone cut off the original one and installed a new one.

These bikes are 40+ years old, no telling what someone has done and why!

Thanks Don, Pete and stevo, agree, for some reason someone’s cut the old one off, and yes mine is a lot thicker than standard by the looks. Out with the drill at the weekend. Cheers guys
