Help identifying part
« on: February 27, 2021, 03:36:52 PM »
Re: 1980 CB650
I'm usually pretty organized with baggies and separating parts, but due to a huge gap in time while waiting for parts to arrive, I lost track of something. Can someone help me identify the part in the picture? It seems to be a bearing stopper that goes somewhere in the shifter side of the engine cover, but according to Partzilla, it's not a part there. I scoured the other diagrams to no avail. I'm 99% sure it belongs to my CB and not to another project.

For perspective, that part is about 4" at the widest part. Those holes are for 8mm/10mm screws.

Thanks for the help.

Some sort of seal/bearing retainer bolted to outside of crankcase

Looks similar to part no 23102-323-000 in the primary drive setup of the 500. As Bryan says, bearing retainer

I agree it looks like a bearing stop plate but I don't see anything like that on Partzilla for the CB650. My 550 has a plate similar to that plate. You would definitely see a spot on the shifter side if it indeed goes there. It would be self explanatory one would think.

Found it. It is indeed a part to another project. It's a drive chain plate for a complete different brand... sorry for the trouble and thanks for the ideas.
