Mr. B

Just FYI, add some additional minutes to the trip the first time you take the "Old Girl" out.  I rode mine down to a local park today that borders the Rappahannock, the major river in our area. My abode is directly across the highway from George Washington's boyhood home, and this is the body of water he is alleged to have thrown a silver dollar across.  There are some nice trails in the park and it was a good day to walk.  When I returned to the parking lot there were three guys looking at the Chopper. After answering questions for about twenty minutes I made the excuse I had to get home to cut the grass, I thanked everyone for their interest and compliments and of course all had to witness the fire and departure.  These bikes will draw a crowd, so be prepared.  BTW, I didn't cut the grass yet, as a matter of principle I do not start a lawn mower until the month of April.  It is like taking the first leak after consuming copious amounts of beer, once it starts it never stops......

Cb750-101921x was already 1/70 here is one of mine first twenty or so of the gold ones. So if it’s 20k would be 1970.

This should hold true if there was only one assembly line, if there was 2  the sequence can change..

Thanks for the “WARNING”. Probably not happening any time soon. Despite my best intentions, the bike came apart on the lift table yesterday. One project (swapping original foot pegs for the existing  foot boards) has lead to a few more.

Also, insurance here can be a roadblock. I already have to many bikes on the road, and Insurance gets tougher every year. Many of them don’t take on new policies and they often have long lists of bikes they won’t touch. Used to be over powered super bikes, but lately I hear some companies are rejecting new dual sports over 1000 cc’s. They’d probably keel over and die if they saw the chopper!

John it’s getting like that here too, and the cost of rego and insurance getting crazy for multiple bikes.. in Queensland we can get solo rego which is approx half full cost but no doubling. Or “club rego” it costs about a third of full rego but has restrictions, you can test ride for a 10 mile or 15 Km radius from home or go on  club rides is all good, but I am a bit of a loner and would rather have fewer bikes regoed but have full rego, but have been known to fudge it occasionally, could be why these three the Rickman, chopper, and K1 will all be Green? ;D

I have a "Year of Manufacture" plate on my 1975.  In Michigan you get a lifetime registration (100 years technically), but still need to carry insurance.  There are similar restrictions, but like the lady at the Sec of State said when I registered my '63 truck the same way, "there's always a car show (bike night) anywhere..."

My CB and CL 175 may* get a plate swap in the future, but unless they actually looked at the frame numbers, a significant number of cops wouldn't notice the difference anyway.

I know when the gold came out, I mean I know it was  19×××.. I have that book.
I have to check with  a buddy  he has a 19 or 20 K bike, and I thought he had confirmed  it as a built in 69..... so I am not sure on when 69  last serial numbers occurred.
That said , I am thinking (could be wrong)  that any bike built after week one of Dec, would likely  not see a showroom floor In December .
At any rate, I think it is very cool to have a 69 built 750.... regardless  of what the Washed Masses say.  The day it was assembled at the factory  is when it wss born.

Frank I couldn’t agree more with the 1969 CB750 it’s something about the first and last of the models although with 750’s the last don’t do it for me, I do have a first year ‘59 Bonnie and a ‘70 which is last dry frame and the one I really like too.

John they do it different here, rego and third party insurance is paid to the state gov, you can nominate what insurance company you want but it all gets paid together to the state, and now they no longer issue rego stickers so it’s easy to be driving a un registered un insured vehicle, I got them to send me the renewal on line and I ended up was driving my van around for six weeks without rego. So back to paper reminder for me, and with number plate recognition everywhere hopefully they will get some of the unreg un insured drivers off the road

Its a P&P girder... made in Walled Lake Mich , I believe..
His brothers Amen 650 Kaw got a 750 Turbo put into it, ran a 10 sec 1/4.. had to switch to a hydraulic fork on it too.

Thanks for inverting my picture, was looking for a reduced picture file for posting without thinking..    My brother's ( rest his soul) Amen chopper was built one year before mine. His started after a crash of his 1977 650 Kawasaki (1980) . When I was beating him with 836 chopper in 1/8 mile races he put a 1984 turbo 750 motor in it. He was untouchable. He matched the claim Motorcycle magazine of 10.78 in a 1/4 mile for a stock bike, but he did it with Amen frame. Backed the number with a 10.79 pass. I am in the process of making it back to a street rider, so that I can sell it.  754's machining skills made it all possible.

I’m sure for regular use that was a much better front end.....very neat builds. Fast too!

Mocked up the original foot pegs and they look so much better than the footboards! Both dump pipes (original FUBAR) have a large mounting tab that goes up to the main engine mount through bolt. They are meaty enough that I welded pins to them, to stop the foot peg brackets from ever rotating. Turned out OK. Should be able to remove some hardware and pull it all a bit tighter to the engine on final assembly.

The oil lines from the tank to engine are Aeroquip lines made up in the day. Both ends have adapters nicely fitted to NPT bosses in engine and tank. My concern is both the supply and return lines are AN-6 size. Seem a bit small on ID. Anyone remember if this was the common setup and worked OK?

It’s been like this for +45 years, so probably should just move on?

I think mine  were 8 AN, and came from Amen.... the ends did not hold up forever.
The actual hole in the fitting that goes to engine case is not as big as you expect on the hose end.
Probably OK of its still running..

Frank..... good point! The hole in the Honda fitting, where it pushes into the block, is really pretty small. Next time I’ll measure, but the AN-6 hose is likely about the same ID. Will post results.

I did an oil change change and new plugs on mine yesterday.  I discovered that I have a fork seal leaking on the left side.  I will start looking for an airplane hanger to rent so I will have plenty of room to pull them for the install.
