I rode it today and it worked perfectly. Buddy took a video, but can’t seem to post it! Pictures tomorrow. Motor has tons of torque and pulls like a freight train. Very loud on the FUBAR straight pipes. 60-65 psi oil pressure and idles beautifully. Front disc is just touching the caliper mount, will have to add a very thin shim to the axle spacer on that side. Otherwise, total success. Turning at low speed takes some concentration. The front wheel wants to “fall over” and turn hard, so a significant amount of “hold” is required. I suspect this improves with speed.....

May have to “borrow” the plate and paperwork from my red K1 and take it for a slightly longer run on the side roads around the farm. Really enjoying this contraptions!

my wheel sits out really far and yeah at speed its better to do anything, getting stuck in rush hour is the absolute worst...I rather turn my bike off and come get it later at night if I get caught in a traffic jam.  My riding style is very very different on the chop, it's very "cowboy" I would say. I'm doing a lot of feathering and coasting to avoid the harsh stand still and hold the wheel up straight. I had a 17inch hallcraft on mine and installed a cl350 front wheel, gave me a larger 19" wheel, doesn't fall over as much and easier to balance. Aesthetically speaking, the 17 inch wheel up front looked better, it was sleeker and sexier, but that brake in that hub couldn't stop itself from rolling down a hill. Im considering lacing a 17" inch rim to the cl hub to get my proportions back in line.

This one has a 21” front wheel and I really have to “hold it up” at low speed.

Handling issues  often are related to the amount of trail you have.
I will warn you about a common issue with girders....a few things.
The links that go fron triple tree to girder shoukd all be tge same length.
And they shoukd ge roughly parallel, top and bottom.
Some folks thank that the length of these  are an adjustment, and may make new ones with different length between holes than original.  Sometimes its because the bike has wrong length girder, or you just want itto sit a certain way. This can lead to probkems like flop and evil handling...... and choppers dont need to be tbat way.
This is part of why some have dertain problems and other do not.
Long rake  will always feel a bit weird at low speed, once you get over 15 mph, probably wont notice much... and  you get used to it..

Frank..... I checked the dimensions you suggested. Two halves are parallel and all the pivot dimensions and over all length are identical. To your point, I have only done some low speed runs on the hard pack road, just outside our farm gate.

The plan is to sneak out one weekday morning and visit a good, long (usually lonely) stretch of smooth paved road, just north of us. It also just occurred to me I never lubricated all the pivot points on the girder links. Every one of them has a grease nipple on the underside of the link bars. Next task.

I wonder if we have the same maker for the girder, only difference is the round tube/bar versus my square bar. same kind of links and dual spring...idk who makes mine, i dont even know what kind of rigid frame i have.

Shtonecb550..... I was lucky to meet the original owner/builder (I’m only the 2nd owner), so got all the information from him. Have you tried the chopper group on Facebook? They may help you.

Pulled off the ugly in line gas filters I started on. New black hose installed Greased all the pivot points on the front and and then stared at it for 10 minutes. Other than finding a pair of mirrors that will suit it, I’m totally DONE.

Shop motorcycle mirrors on ebay and there are more than you care to look at.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

Take a stock 750 mirror, shorten stem and rethread, mount on master cylinder, one mirror will be fine..

It's a terrible video, but this guy has these mirrors on a late model CB1100. While he's riding you can get a good idea of how good a view these mirrors give, very crisp and clear without buzzy vibration making them blurry. Not particularly cheap though but good quality.
