Motorcycle overpants
« on: March 08, 2021, 03:31:35 PM »
I had a pair of cheap pants for years, they are on the decline now.  The zippers are going etc.  Time to look for new pair.

This pair I have is made from textile, it has a liner and zippers on sides, I can wear them over jeans or just over long johns and put them on with boots on.  Liner in winter makes them warm enough for Virginia and knees and hip protectors block the wind to some extent.

The brand is Custom Steel but I could not find them.

Any recommendations?

Depends upon what you call cheap? Also depends upon what size pants you take. Joe Rocket makes good gear and their pants are not like their jackets, which most are emblazoned with various patches. I "depatched" a jacket by them which I found from an ebay seller years ago for 1/2 price.
Sometimes you can find decent deals at ebay on them. Especially in winter or early spring when no one is buying...
.  RevZilla carries them too and sells them without the shipping cost. Returns if issues are much easier at RevZilla and less expensive than dealing with an eBay sellers usually unless they offer free return shipping  I wonder sometimes if they are shipping direct from a distributor warehouse instead of RevZilla on some things.
Oxford has decent gear too.
Check out the motorcycle suppliers for gear...

I've got a pair of these, but I can't fit them over a pair of jeans. In fact I'll have to drop a few pounds to get them on at all. When they fit, they're comfortable and work well from 95 down to 50 degrees. Below 50 they need thermals.

If you're looking for seriously low budget gear and don't mind imports, this site has lots of stuff to offer.

Cheap is about $60 on ebay  ;D.  But they served me well and now I know, that this type pants work for me and i am willing to spend more money for maybe better quality.

I looked at Aerostich, but that's not an option for now.

Don..... My son has a Joe Rocket set of pants that is zippered up the inside. He can remove most of the inside of the lags and the front, exposing a mesh under layer. A few times last year when th mornings were cool, I used them. Really good “all rounder” solution.
