Topic: The cagers didn't kill me again today.

 Took a motorcycle ride today, I ordered truck tires and visited friends. I was going home in town and a stoplight changed. I stopped easily enough but two cars behind me didn't, I was on the right side of the right lane, One car changed lanes and the second one one passed through the very red light in my lane close enough to touch. Neither had been  close behind me but neither even slowed down, I'd guess 45 to 50 mph and not a car length between them. I'm assuming if the cars in the middle lane hadn't moved into the left turn lane it would be a different story. My three brake lights apparently had no impact on these yahoos.
 I was not able to catch them or even ID a car.  An earlier lane change incident is hardly worth a mention after that BS.
 I'm not telling this story at home so keep it just between us.

Cagers here have gotten stupider and my teenagers should be driving soon. I'm not sure how I'll deal with all of that. I guess texting me when they arrive safely is the way I'll go.

Here in Davis,CA. where i live,cagers don't respond to green lights or get-going after stopping at stop signs:they just sit there ! I imagine the only thing Ieft to do is get on my bicycle and stay inside the bike path.These cagers must be staring at their hand-held devices twice as long now as they did previously:they need a strong truck to 'give'em a push'.

I'm considering a wireless, helmet mounted, brake light. I guess it doesn't matter if they're not even looking at all! Need GPS kill switches..., approach my bike at the wrong speed/distance and your engine dies/brakes are applied.

Many people here will stop with a line of cars behind them, when they have the right of way, to wave someone on who was stopped at a stop sign.

This causes many accidents when someone passes the stopped car on the right or left.

I refuse. I'll drive on when I'm damn good and ready. I know how stop signs work.

This is a small city.I see many people waiting at the light & turn lane who don't pull all the way up to the white line where traffic should stop and where the antiquated light signal is able to read that they're there.. which really holds up traffic.They also leave big gaps in front of them where a full car can fit between them and the car in front(I see the entitlement attitudes all the time too) of them.I sometimes go around them on my cycle and take that 'open space'  .
When a motorcyclist hops on his bike he needs to get into a very aware attitude to stay alive out there:any threat coming your way can kill you.The cagers don't seem to even think/care about driving anymore:why doesn't the parent allow there 17+ yr. old son or daughter to drive them places so the automobile can be driven by a motivated,thinking person. ? The young drivers at least still Like to drive and enjoy the thrill of motoring down the road.

 I didn't mention brake practicing out in the country. I feel like the new pads and 32mm dual piston calipers on the gl are broken enough to abuse them so I did a  few practice stops. Trying to be ready for the car in front of me. I visited my buddy that fell and broke a leg and hip. He was a brick layer, spent a lifetime on ladders and scaffolds and a 4' step ladder threw him off.

Yeah I see people attempting to social distance while wearing their CARS, leaving an extra car length to the next vehicle when stopped, and yes there are those dumbasses that won't approach the stop line at all. (I'm not shy with horn honking) Personally I don't wear a mask while driving since I'm either alone or with someone from my household, my opinion is that a car is as effective as a mask plus it keeps me six feet from the next driver.

I'm sure there are statistics that can be quoted to prove me wrong and this may be against the common sense of others. I'm not trying to be offensive, or enforce my freedom or put anyone at risk. .05% of lives saved is a lot of living people that would have otherwise not lived through this, I'll wear a mask and wash my hands.

Don, I've got an early GL front end I'm saving for my 750k3, I've got the GL caliper brackets and a full front brake setup from a CB900 with single piston calipers. A nice FREEBIE from a gent on Craigslist who just wanted the brakes to go to a good home. These calipers look like they'll fit but I haven't bolted it all together yet. Which twin-piston calipers are you running?

Alan I used the v65 sabre calipers from a 1985. They are 32mm, I have a left over set of 30mm duals from an 85 v twin magna left over, I bought them to get the brackets. I found a reasonable seller so bought both sets. If I remember right the 30's looked nicer than the 32's that I used. Many of the right brackets fit but the left's with anti dive brackets are different. There was a bracket list floating around in other bikes for a while where we discussed the swaps. I look up a possible part in the dealers sites and click on the part, it will then show a list of everything else the bracket fits even if they are not available.

Had a close call last night myself.

Merged onto the highway.  The suburban in the left lane felt the dotted lines were slalom markers.  So i twist it to get a couple car lengths ahead.

Two stop lights later, i'm stopped, waiting to proceed forward.  This is one of those "go forward or turn right" lanes and i position myself forward and left so not to be a complete dick.
The slaloming suburban catches up and all i saw was amber turn signal within inches of my pannier.
