Those are both in the sam place so should be the same vendor

There are different widths of final drive bearings not sure if you can use the rest of a later box with earlier final shaft or not.
As to the ebay item the forks look perfect so the rest should be good as well
Yeah I think it looks pretty good too. All my bearings are perfect so that's not an issue.
Also he claims it's from a 74 and that's what year mine is.
I've asked him to see if he's willing to take some pics of the specific parts I need.
I've partially assembled the shift mechanism and it looks like the selector drum is hanging up a little when the shift arm comes in contact with that bent washer on the end.
I'll get into it more tomorrow.

That washer should be easy to bend back.
I have bent one, bended it back or more like snap it into its place. Work fine. Gear shifter linkage must sit right here.

If I wind up getting the ebay gear set I referred to a few posts ago it has a nice flat washer among several other things I need.
I tried cmsnl for the gears but the one I really need is out of production and hondasman's suggestion of using fast by gast for gear referb hasn't panned out yet.

Last '74 750 just sold on BaT for $11,500, and quite frankly it had issues. There's another one listed today just like yours and is at $5,000 with 7 days left. Its manufacture date is the same month as mine, March of 74.

I have a set of cases here (scrapped) because someone broke off that oil filter bung. :(
Now that the snow is backing off, I gotta take them to the scrapyard. :( :(

Maybe the pic was misleading but that was done only to place the lower case onto the upper case. What could it weigh, 25 lbs maybe?

I had that bung welded  back onto a set of K2 cases, after some PO broke it off.

As a final update it passed the road test today.
It shifts perfectly and remains solidly in all gears no matter the rpm's. I got on it hard several times, especially in second gear.
Once again thanks to all who weighed in.

Good news!
I hope you will have another well sounding 4-4 ride with a stop at a cafe, restaurant or similar beside a nice road.
See how people will gather around your bike admiring it while talking about old days and old friends.... ;D

I'll be watching them. The 75 should do well but I don't think 11K like the last several nice ones.

Freedom Green Metallic is a very special color.
I'm sure people will pay for your bike that look like a real survivor in good condition and runs fine.

Eventual flaws are spelled patina, right?

Ok, I'm new to the form and like to say there are some true CB 750 people here. I see there are a few members that say they are old timers, I can say I'm a old timer.  I've had K1, K2 and K3 during the 70's.  Used to drag race a 836 that ran 11.7 & 124 mph.  Got a new 1980 CBX and then later in life got a 79 CBX.  Long story short I have 2 K4's. One I need to check the top end as I didn't like the oil flow.  The other one is a rolling frame with a frozen motor.  I now have some time in life to work on them.  So seeing my back ground I something I want to pass this on.
The issue the CB 750's jumping out of second gear is the three dogs on the 31T gear, wears from being round to being egg shape.  Back in the day I learned that you can pull 31T and the shift fork out the side without splitting the engine.  I've done this more than 5 times.  The trick is that the shift drum has to be, (this is where I can't remember) between 3rd and 4th. Or between 4th and 5th.  With the drum in this position the middle and inner shift forks will not fall into the transmission. If this happens you have to split the motor.
I'm sure this will get some response/ feedback, but I wanted to let everybody know this can be done but first it needs to be determined what position the shift drum needs to be in.  When I tear into one of my motors, I will confirm and do a wright up.

Yes please share.
That's good to know and I initially thought that might be a possibility.
It turns out the dogs were egg shaped and the fork pads were badly worn but also the 2nd. gear nub (high spot) on the shift drum was worn by .030" which limited full stroke of the fork.
Probably changing the gear and fork without splitting the cases would have worked but for who knows how long with the worn drum?
