Which points should I use?

I was having trouble setting ignition timing with my motorcycle last season so I thought this season I would get it right.

upon looking in my spare parts I have a bunch of different types of points I don’t know which was originally for my Cb350f

I had an old CB 500 that I took points off of so I have a set of those and then I remember buying cheap ones off of 4into1 .

I wanna go back to my original points.

 

I have one point that has ND written on it , I can’t find the other one.

I have two that say Japan and have a logo on it

And the two that are in my bike say TEC on them I feel those might be for the CB 500 however I am unsure what do the original Cb350f points look like? Thank you!

All the sohc points are the same, original would be the Tec, if the logo you mention looks like a three bladed propeller they will be Daichi and a lot of people dont like them and have trouble with them.
Points gap is 14 thou(0.35mm) and needs to be spot on then the timing needs to be exactly on the F mark.
As you move the points plate the gap alters and when you readjust the gap the timing alters, if you dont do this job often it can take quite a time and be very frustrating to get both spot on but is well worth it as next time all you will need to adjust is the gap

   Byran makes a good point, if your not familiar with setting points it can be a bit frustrating, especially if your reusing old or worn parts. One of the best things to do is make sure that you have a good points plate and two good sets of points. In the 2nd pic, those are daichi, toss 'em. Tec or ND are your preferably choices,  the points themselves shouldn't be badly pitted and they should be clean and dry. Inspect the rubbing blocks for wear. If need be, you can lightly file the points to clean them up. The points plate needs to be in good condition as well, it should rotate and tighten down without any kind of unnecessary binding, movement or rocking. Sloppy points plates and worn points make setting gap and timing impossible.
   Set the gap then the timing. Timing doesn't effect gap but gap effects timing. Set pts 1-4 gap then 2-3, I then set the timing in the same order. I use a multimeter to statically time, then a timing light once its running to check. One thing at a time. It may take several attempts to get them dialed in. Practice makes perfect. Remember to lube the cam felt when your done.
   Throw in Hondaman's ignition and your good to go.

+1  I don't like those Daichi either,they wear-out fast;I love the TEC although difficult to source,they Last.  ;)

Are we sure about this? I seem to remember plate, advancer and breakers were somewhat smaller. Also... even aftermarket brands that used to advertise their breakers for CB500/550 and CB750, never included the CB350/400, at least not that I have seen...

I know what I fitted years ago, and personaly never had a problem with Daichi back in the 70's

While my boyer bransden ignition was sent back to England for testing I put the factory 750 coils back on with the points plate and advancer from a cb400 that's waiting my attention and my 750 didn't seem to mind. Ran pretty good actually in fact I was tempted to go back to points.

The advancers vary but only on advance curve, static and full advance are still same

my timing plate has ND stamped on it so i believe the original points for my 350f were ND's.. having said that I know I have points from the cb550 on it. I think I should get the original ND's right?
