What Bikes do you want to end up with ?
« on: March 16, 2021, 05:00:20 PM »
Right now I have a good list , most not finished .. but a bunch that hold my interest at present.
 70 Bultaco Matador.. just sitting.
350 Honda twin, SL twin tube frame, SL cases but need primary  drive , CB motor and misc.
650 Yamaha  probably be a tracker.
74 750 my rider.. needs some immediate  work.
An Amen rigid 750 project.. likely go leaf spring fork.. old Indian look
An Amen savior projects likely  will add FX swingarm rear end , maybe run round spun oil bucket, a touring chopper .
A KO Hot rod 750 I hope, got most of the parts, 1000dc,  rods, Webers, magneto, etc.. could use a knackered 69 frame,  it will never be near stock...  hope I can pull off the 69 , have cases and more KO engines.

Setting up machine shop again, retired, just gotta stat relatively  healthy and live a bit longer..
Oh 1 more 74 XL 350.. bored to 410..former TRON STUNTbike..., wanna keep that..

The current list of current riders...
Candy gold vintage performance(pc talk for cafe racer) K1/k5 amalgamation
Sunrise Orange CB750f0
1982 Suzuki GS1100EZ
1978  Kawasaki KZ1000ltd
1978 Kawasaki KZ650d1 SR (basically for sale)
2007 Honda CRF450R

...stuff coming up
I have parts and projects to put together 5!!!!!!! more cb750's!
1986 Suzuki GSXR750...quite possible that this will be the next animal to break back out of the zoo
I NEED a 2 stroke...have an RD350 and tons of spares,  Gotta get busy!  Will it satisfy? or do I need a triple?
1982 Yamaha IT250  Will this even be fun? idunno
More Kawi 650/1000 stuff  ...satisfying to work on and ride

What ones will I keep?  I dunno except for my Candy Gold K1/5.  The bike I have had the longest and done the most with...over 100,000 miles (lost track of exactly how many as it has had at least 4 different Odometers over the years), it's on it's 4th engine(I never use to have the money to rebuild 'em, just dump another worn out parts bike engine in when it starts leaking too bad, now have money for nice stuff) 2nd general chassis overhaul, and it is going strong!  Main thing!...I will always own at least one CB750...first ride blew my mind even if there is newer and better stuff, just something about them I love.  So dependable and a pleasure to work on the rare occasion that they need it.
If it works good, it looks good...

You need to get something together for AHRMA racing. You love the road twisties so this will really blow your mind.

I'd consider another CB750 but I'd try to do a version that is aimed at weight reduction without significantly altering the basics.

Three colors of K0, I'm getting close on that one. The K2 drag bike with all of the speed accessories and running, Kz1000 that wants to be a brown and orange Z1 clone. I'll keep the Vetter gl1000 for cruising.
I have all of the raw materials but a car is getting in the way.

This bike has been in the family since the early fifties. My grandfather bought it and now it is mine. Gazelle in those days was the non plus ultra in bikes. It is all quality. The bike never asked for more than air in its tyres and a drop of oil on the chain once a year. It has done thousands of miles and is still 100% original. Cycling is the best I have learned in life and there is nothing that gives so much joy.

A complete list of what I'd like to own?

--1978-or-79 Yamaha XS1100, red with yellow pinstripes.  Had a grey 1980 as my first bike, but it needed a better owner than I at the time.
--Early Honda CBX.  When I have more money and technical ability.
--BMW R60/2 or equivalent.  I don't know a whole lot about them, but an airhead of that vintage has always been a good looking bike.

And now the one's I'm lucky enough to currently own:

--1976 GL1000 Goldwing
--1972 (/'73/'75/'probably others) CB750K.  Built from parts, but MOSTLY 72.
--1997 Honda Valkyrie
--1980 Kawasaki KZ1300

And if we're being crazy?  Throw in a Dodge Tomahawk.  Because why not.
-1970 CB750 K0
-1980 KZ1300
-1976 Yellow GL1000
-1965 CA77 "Dream"
-1997 Valkyrie
-1975 Velosolex

Frank............what I have and what I want is determined by my wallet ;D...........and age :D

When I am finished with projects and sold what I can't manage, I hope to keep my original CB750K3, a restored CL72, a bitsa custom CL77, a '67 Triumph T100C, 2020 Royal Enfield Himalayan, and maybe my race bikes (Triumph Cub & Honda CB750) because their hard to sell at the moment.

Cougars, i asume you mean Laverda Jota, the 750sf is a nicer ride(riden both as mechanic) and the Ducati 750ss is nicer than the 900 but a damn site rarer and expensive

I wouldn't mind having the '64 Duo Glide and '87 GSX-R1100 back, both long gone.  But I still think about them.

I suppose I already have my dream bike, CB750 K1 I restored back around 2013. That's the definite keeper. I have a CB750 K5 that's my daily rider when it's above freezing and not raining. That needs some Ikon shocks and new tires soon, but otherwise just gets what it needs to keep getting me around and look presentable. I picked it up from a forum member after I was hit in 2015 on my K1.

I picked up a '71 CB350 for the wife, a work in progress that's getting suspension upgrades but should be ready at some point this spring. I'm not tied to that but she likes it and it's a lot easier for her to handle than a 750.

I got back into dirt bikes a couple years ago, street legal dual sports I should say since everything fun is illegal in NJ. I got an '85 XL600 with XR600 engine for myself, and swapped XR600 rear suspension and XL650R cartridge forks on it. It's getting a big bore kit and a hydrid XR/XLR/NX transmission soon. I picked up an '85 XL350 for the wife when she wanted to ride off road with me, but it's too heavy for her. Now I'm down the XR600 rear and XR650L front suspension path on the XL350. I keep my eyes open for an '85 XL250 to have a full set of flash red bikes, and an '83-'84 XL200 for a lighter bike for her to ride. When it's time to downsize I'll keep the 600 if I can still start it.

I picked up a street legal titled '77 IT400 a year and change ago. I was looking for a F-9 Bighorn to satisfy my street legal two stroke itch since I used to have a F-11, but this came along and I jumped on it since I used to have an IT465 that was a blast. Titled dirt bikes are impossible to find here. The IT400 is nothing like the 465, suspension sucks and it handles like a pig but it's fun for the novelty and a good hill climber. I'll probably hang on to it as long as I live in the land of illegal to ride dirt bikes. It's fun for a trail ride or an occasional ride to work, for the novelty more than anything. I did a 12v conversion, H4 headlight, and XT turn signals. It's legit and looks period correct.

I like them all, but if it came down to only having one bike it would be the CB750 K1 I restored so many years ago.
