These are Avons run at Honda recommended pressures.  I like the low leakage tubes I bought with the tires; hold pressure within a few psi/month.

Pretty ain't she?

It looks fantastic Mark.

Thanks!

Terry you really full of it I'm not going anywhere.

Pressure on side walls is max pressure.

When I see bull #$%* I'll call it it out. Simple as that.

That's quite a statement, Rob. Maybe you can direct me to where that happened, so I can correct myself. In the meanwhile... what do you think you did by posting this?

Go back a read what Terry first posted will you? About Tire manufactures listing the correct pressures to use lol.

I told him they only showed the max tire pressure the same as on a Shinko tire side wall for goodness sake.He is in denial.,

I wasn't asking you. Terry understands. Since long Terry and I have this running gag about EI vs conventional ignition. Ad absurdum!. See what I posted there and the link. Obvious, isn't it? Have you missed that? Really? Or was it convenient for you to "miss" it. For the rest: Honne soit qui mal y pense! I accidentely got here, as I had decided not to follow this particular thread at all. I was shocked to see, I was vilified behind my back. I thought it was an unwritten rule, you don't do this. You can confront me whenever you want, but do it in the open, not sneaky, behind my back. On the wall in my favourite Libanese restaurant it says: If you're satified with us, tell the others, if you aren't, tell us! Same goes for me. And you do not even have to do the first part, as far as I am concerned. Thank you very much.

At least Deltarider admitted he was incorrect abour brake lever arm o'rings and lubrication.

Two other riders have chimed in and basically have the same idea as I do regarding their m/c tire pressure set up as well.

Yep, you can tell one bloke something and he understands, and the guy beside him doesn’t get it, and has a hissy fit. No biggie mate, Mark mentioned in a previous post that he’s had some issues, so I’m not offended, more sympathetic. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I can't seem to find it now but there was a simple procedure for determining correct tire pressure for any specific bike. It involved setting tire pressure when cold, riding a small number of miles to get the tires hot, then measuring tire pressure to determine pressure rise when the tires were hot. This info is used to determine optimal tire pressure for any tire fitted to any particular bike.

Does anyone find this familiar? I thought I read it here on SOHC4.
Results from this procedure will fall inside the vague range given by tire manufacturers.

Edit: My next tires will be on my K8, I've got a set of 17/19 Shinko 230's that'll run on CB750A/GL1100 wheels.

yup, if the pressure goes up more than 2 psi between cold and hot, the cold presssure is too low.  If it doesn't go up, cold pressure is too high...use with a grain of salt, I may have that 2 psi figure wrong.  And you will need an accurate gauge, NOT one of the typical pen type where the stick shoots out.

Tires also expand a after they've been used for around 400kms according to Shinko Tyres Australia. So not the same dimensions as originally fitted. Due to rotation forces and heat build up I guess.

That sounds like it, thanks Sean.
I remember trying this on the last bike I had on the road, a Honda twin 400cc.... It liked 32-1/2 lbs front and rear but if I went to 33lbs it'd go squirley. It handled really well with tubed IRC Durotours on tube type comstars, most confidence inspiring and easiest to trust handling bike I've ever ridden to date.

Alan, it was in Hondamans thoughts, post no 32 in this thread:
http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=7401.25

It says:

"A trick to remember from Continental Tire's motorcycle tire engineer: measure your tire pressure cold, then ride for at least 10 miles until the tire is well warmed, then measure the pressure again. If it rises 2 PSI: you're spot on your required pressure. If it rises more than 2 PSI, your PSI is too low. If it does not rise 2 PSI, your PSI is too high, and your tire patch size will be reduced. When riding 2-up or heavily loaded, add 2 PSI to your "normal" PSI as a start, but check again when warmed up.

As a reference: I run my (CB750) TT100 (4.10x19 front, 4.75x18 rear) tires at 34 PSI single-rider. I run my Avon touring tires (120/90 rear, 110/90 front) at 30 PSI.

Update for Avons after 2008: the Avon tires now use 35 PSI as their minimum, and I am running my new ones at 38 PSI front, 38-40 PSI rear, to make the corners smoother and ore 'even' feeling."

Took a while but I ended up getting the Accolades off (rear was hard) and the Avon Roadriders on...just came back from the test ride so far so good. Took a lot of weight to balance both tires - much more than the BT45s.

Rear has a heavy duty inner tube, a 120/80/19 tube on a 2.75 Sun rim.

I had a 130 on the rear before and while it was fine I felt the 120 may fit better. Lets see for the twisties if thats true.
Front is 100/90/19 though looks more like a 110
