Side Cover Compatibility w/ 82 650 Nighthawk
« on: November 29, 2021, 02:41:15 PM »
Hi everyone,

New to the forum, but I've owned an 82 650 Nighthawk for a few years. Long story short, I'm having a tough time finding side covers for this bike. The bike was stolen. While I managed to recover it, the side covers were long gone. I watch eBay carefully for that model year, but I am also wondering if I can use other side covers from other CBs or Nighthawk model years. You know how it is: you find the year, but there's a bad crack or it's missing the tabs.

I'm trying to keep her close stock if possible - I'm not really into cafe / brat builds, but if I can't find side covers I may have to get creative!

Thanks

Nope, none. The closest you'll find are the CB750SC and CB450SC of that year, but the covers are both bikes are different enough that they won't work at all. The side covers on this bike are nigh impossible to find unless you get one with all 3 tabs broken off.

I know, this answer sucks. Set up some eBay alerts and get ready to pay dumb money for parts with broken tabs. Then get ready to try repairing the tabs with partial success a few times until you get it. Or use velcro and zip ties.

Blows, man. I get it. Get creative if you can, cause otherwise you'll spend a lot of time and money getting them proper.

I won't be using these, they won't fit the bike anymore.  If you want some previously repaired covers to practice on these might work.   http://www.hondacb650.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=14818&start=30
