CB750K Hub Dampers
« on: March 28, 2021, 07:54:20 AM »
Assembling rear wheel of my 750K5 -  Do I need to use any lubricant on the rear hub dampers?  Seems like it might need some to reduce wear. If yes, what is the best kind to use?

Lube can be needed to get the sprocket carrier to enter the tight rubber filled areas.

Last time tire mounting grease and still need force to get the carrier to dock completely so wheel could fit the swingarm.

That's exactly the problem with this hub. Just a little silicone grease on the sprocket carrier to get to slide in wouldn't hurt, right?  ;)

I'm not sure about silicone grease on rubber.
Soft soap will not age the rubber. Or dish soap.

A little CRC 5..56 will do the job without affecting the rubber.

i've been using it for over 20years to install tires on steel m/c rims by hand using tire levers.

Yeah in this case simple works.  Dawn dish soap.
I recently restored and sold a 77 cb750f, and am nearly finished with a (former basket case) cb750k5.  This is a place to share, learn and enjoy.  I am grateful to and for 99+% of this site's membership.

Thanks all!  I used some Dawn dish soap and it worked like a charm.  It also worked on a stubborn rear tire that I couldn't get to seat.
