Any idea what this is? Update - pics added

Dusty old chopper about 20 minutes from my house. How did these things stop without a front brake?

Some choppers were rear brake only. That one could have had better brakes at one time, I'm not sure what those fork sliders are from but I do see caliper mounts on both sides.

I wish we could see the right side handlebar, maybe there's a master cylinder there.

They usually relied on making wide black marks on the pavement. :)

Simple answer is they didnt. Would not be alowed on the road in UK
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Remember "Its always in the last place you look" COURSE IT IS YOU STOP LOOKIN THEN!

Same in many US States. But then there were those tiny drum brakes that were created as a compromise between function and form. They were little for a drum being about the size of a bare cb750 hub, didn't have much stopping power but would hold the bike for uphill starts.
