Charging rotor removal - Oil soaked stator/field coil.
« on: March 24, 2021, 01:45:19 PM »
I recently completed (I thought) a restoration on a '77 CB750A for my wife.  I took it out for it's maiden voyage and it died after a short trip and wouldn't start because the battery was dead.  Took it home and took off the stator cover to discover that apparently the crank seal is leaking and the stator and field coil were oil soaked.  Will the oil soaking ruin the stator and field coil? Any way to clean them and make them usable if so?  What other stator and filed coil will work if not?  Thanks for any help offered!!

Maybe bad battery only?
Then check that the charging system works.
Chapter 8 in CB750 shop manual has a good description.
I do not know if 750A differ in that aspect.
