Yoshimura head gasket
« on: February 23, 2007, 11:17:45 AM »
Hello all, have a Question for you? I have a cb550 that will be getting a new engine at some point, so in the mean time I am buying parts for this rebuild slowly. any way I just bought a Yoshimura head gasket off ebay part #428-01.  for cb500 59 to 59.5.  In the honda manual the 550 is 58mm bore or 58.5 So what does this Gasket fit? Will it go on as a direct replacement on a cb550, or is this for Yoshimuras 572 big bore kit?  Thanks for reading and all replies are appreciated. Brent.

According to my Yoshi book, that is the correct head gasket part # for the yoshi 553 and 562cc kits. for the CB500 four. they also did a 590cc kit 61mm pistons for the 550.

kevin thanks for the reply. Do you think it would work as a stock replacement for a none bored 550? Or is it to big. again thanks for the info. Brent

The 428-01 is listed as "Headgasket 550 kit spec." while the 428-05 is listed as "61mm kit headgasket".

What I have is a Yoshimura catalogue and dealer price list with some articles on their 750/850 Suzuki and 1000 Z-1 that I received sometime around '77 after I blew up my bike. Glenn posted most of this somewhere on the site if you can locate it. It was initially in my gallery but got moved.
