Whats your favorite metal filler (minor pitting)
« on: March 31, 2021, 06:52:02 PM »
As opposed to bondo or JB weld....what is your favorite filler for non structural rust pitting in frame?   Especially in high use areas such as the center stand?  Not powder coating....just enamel or epoxy painting.

Brazing rod works pretty good. Thats if you have the torch for it.

Sand it out with 40 grit.  You will have to sand the filler anyway.

Spray putty Joe. Hit it with etch primer first, then spray on a few coats of spray putty, sand it smooth, prime and paint. Sometimes a couple of full wet coats of enamel will be enough to fill those pits, but spray putty will definitely do the job. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Joe I thought you were talking about the "feet" on the center stand.  I don't think any kind of putty type filler would last long there. If itis wise where then you got several good suggestions. Now all you have to do now is pick one! Hahaha 😂
