Bar End Control Suggestions?
« on: April 15, 2021, 10:26:32 AM »
My chopper project has some old CB750 Control switches on the bars. They are empty and inoperable by design. I’m considering cleaning up the area using this 4into1 unit on the throttle side. What have others used for the clutch lever/ pivot bracket when deleting the original parts? Thanks!

Depends on how much you want to spend. You can go high end and get a Domino throttle, or more budget friendly and go with the one you listed or Motion Pro. Motion Pro also makes a universal clutch perch and lever, or more high end, the pro taper with ball bearing pivot and quick adjust.
All you gotta do is do what you gotta do.

I have seen whole chopper builds centered around a clean old throttle assembly and some good looking levers...in such a case, that 4 into 1 piece is not really cuttin' it.  I would go look at some more choppers and maybe some old british and italian parts sites and hit some swap meets.
If it works good, it looks good...

Good call! I have an Italian piece that was on my Rickman (when it was a race bike). I’ll dig it out and have a look! Thanks for the reminder.....

Here is what I used a few times,
72 or earlier 750 right hand switch. Has a throttle built in, kill switch, H , Lo , Off for lights. , and a button .  Can be used for horn or starter.  HONDA mastercylinder looks ok chromed..
Then on left side , I like to run just a Magura dogleg lever, and a grip.

Frank..... The controls are pretty basic! Key, lights and start (push) are in the box behind the coils. I added a horn yesterday, so your advice is helpful. Will post the outcome.

Frank..... yes. The switch is pretty high, just under the nose of the gas tank, LHS. Forward is Hi, centre off, back for Lo. There is also no horn (added one yesterday) and no “kill switch”......

I think I’ll do what you suggested and bring those switches up to the bars!
