341 baffle removal? NED! New Exhaust Day.
« on: April 07, 2021, 08:39:31 AM »
Does anyone remember how to remove the baffles from the 341 pipes? I've ordered a set of repro's from cmsnl and plan to coat the insides with Eastwood inside the pipe exhaust coating before using them. My brother remembers cutting or breaking off a bolt or rivet before he cut the ends off of his new baffles in 1974.
He sawed off half of the baffles, I don't plan anything that extreme, but you never know.

I've removed other baffles before from other bikes with a bent steel rod attached to the end of a slide hammer set-up.Insert,hook and pull while using the slide hammer gently. The caps on the 341's don't go in deep at all.

When my brother mentioned cutting out a bolt, he apparently was referring to a rusted corroded old bolt or corroded baffle. These should just unscrew. I also remember a reference to drilling a rivet but not sure what pipe that was on.

I'm in no hurry to open them all and expose them to scratches and dings. I will later today and share the pics. One of my yamiya sets came with a matching pair and a missing pipe. DSS got right after that problem.

I don't have the ticket right here but it was under $1300 with the full heat shield kit, shipping and a spare pillion bolt. Shipping was around $50. Shocking after seeing $500 shipping for the 4-4 racing headers on webike. I do realize Asia is further from me than the Netherlands but wow.
To me DSS is the shipping deal, he charges a flat rate in the US, it was $17 for my no number pipes but I think it went up to $19 or so.
