YSS shocks on ebay from shop in italy eye to clevis
« on: April 13, 2021, 09:07:34 PM »
Im in the market for fancy shocks, I was looking for overkill because i plan on touring my bike across country. I know anything above Ikons really aren't going fetch me much but I want something exotic looking.

I was considering Ohlins for about $780, I've considered YSS but was never able to find them for sale. Well, I just found a bunch for sale from a shop in Italy on ebay.

I'd go for IKONS as well.

I got a set of KONIs for my '76 CB550F and they are still performing fine. nz$530 back then. 1991ish

I picked up a set of Gazi Sport-Lite shocks. I haven't put them to use yet, but the build quality is nice, plus they're adjustable and fully rebuildable. Aussie based, but easy to get ahold of from their US distributor who were helpful when contacted.

They're built modular so you can swap out different clevises and eyes as needed to fit the application.

I had a set of Bol dor shocks before but found them too long and handling was affected at high speeds and in not in a good way. You might want to consider Hyperpro shocks from the Netherlands. Good quality shock and very good company to deal with re: spring rates- here it is on my K2.

I bought Ikons for my 76 CB750 because they're one of the few with preload, rebound and compression settings and I got a 10% discount by telling them I was a SOHC/4 member  8)

I have YSS on my vintage enduro bike, a ‘77 xt500. They’re ok. A bit stiff now but just need some tweaking I think.

I had YSS on a monoshock bmw R80. The rubber eyelettes failed twice within 100km. That was their base model. My XT has theirs top of the line model with much nicer fittings at the ends. Just something to watch for. The cheaper YSS shocks had a very thick and soft rubber sleeve that just ripped in half after one ride, leaving the shock rattling loose on the mounting bolts. Replaced it with a Wilbers shock.

Had Ikons on my old cb750. They had less adjustment than my current YSS shocks but the ride quality really was quite nice I thought. Simple, rebuildable, and up to the task.

I have a ‘75 GL1000 right now that needs shocks and I intend to use Ikon again.

I have a pair of YSS shocks for my small bike, ordered them from Wemoto.com in the UK.These are they're lowest price twin shocks with standard springs: $130 shipped from the UK to me.I think they're very good quality and have had no problems with them for the past year of hard use.I ride a 200cc Honda 95% of the time and I'm 235lbs with a luggage rack which carries from 15-50lbs. most of the time.I have these economy model YSS shocks set on the middle(5 steps of preload)position and it's plenty.
75' CB400F/'bunch o' parts' & 81' CB125S modded to a 'CB200S'
I love the small ones too !
