Not just the gear driven cam models will last. don't get sucked into that "group"of people.   ::)  There is absolutely nothing wrong with the  VTEC model.  For nostalgia purposes, the gear driven cam models were the original but if Honda kept the VTEC and the gear driven cams te bike would have been priced out of most people's range (think $17 -19K).  My 2005 VFR VTEC will still keep up with and in most situations out run your 94...    ;)

And yours looks better doing it.  I love the look of the newer models but I'm cheap and this one delivers what I need for the right price.  I gotta admit, I wasn't totally stoked at the styling at first (I like everything but the headlights and windshiled) but the growl from the pipe and the gear noise lured me in.  A quick ride and I was hooked.  I put a double bubble light smoke windshield on the front and it looks pretty good now.

Sold my GS 500 for $1900 to a young kid.  The wife's happy because there's one less bike in the garage and I'm happy because I made a couple hundred bucks extra off that thing.
That was the only thing good that came out of that day though.
First, I burn out the regulator on my "rock solid" VFR.  During my walk home (almost made it), I invented new variations of curse words.
No problem, I've still got my ever faithful and "rock solid" CB 750.  So I drive it to work, to and from lunch and to a meeting.  When I came out, I appeared to be missing a couple of cylinders.  Idles fine but sounds like a harley once I give it the guns.  I'm thinking I got some clogged main jets because the sparks is fine etc.
At that point I was pretty sure I had somehow angered the motorcycle gods.  I figured having 2 Hondas crap out the same day was a bad omen and I wasn't going to be transfering a title that night.  I was pretty sure the wheel or something was going to fall off if the dude went for a test ride.  But everything went well and I sold off my suzi.  Was a fun bike to get back into riding but it was time to say goodbye.
Now that I got the space, I'm thinking real serious about a complete teardown of the CB.

Also, the regulator is coming on friday and man it wasn't cheap.  :/

From what i read on the forums at VFRWorld.com, this is common for mid to high mileage mid 90's VFR's.  You should take a look for a few solutions they have come up with on the VFR site to help prevent this from happening again in the near future.  I don't have a direct link since it doesn't relate directly to me.

As for the motorcycle God's, the fact you owned a Suzuki was enough to upset them!   :D  Now that you have found the error of your ways and have an all Honda garage the planets will once again align in your favor.  I need to stop neglecting my 750 and give her thenew clutch and tires she needs.  The other day i was swinging my leg off of the VFR and kicked the rear turn signal on the CB.  Snapped the thing right off!   :o  I better fix things soon before the motorcycle God's frown on me again...

every vfr i've ever ridden, (probably about 20) new or used, was comfortable, punchy and a blast to ride... and, of course, way too big for a sportbike.  but, honestly, i've never ridden one of the 750s... maybe an earlier vintage is all i need.

my girlfriend rides a 98... well, i say ride... she hasn't ridden it in about 6-8 months.  it's way too big for her and she realized it when she was run off the road and had to actually "handle" the bike instead of letting it handle.  she sticks more to the ex500 these days.  i give her and the bike props though, it was her first bike, it bucked her off, she broke both wrists, she got back on and took a 2000+ mile trip after that on the same bike.  (after i put both of them back together of course)

yes, it gets ridden... i rode it today as a matter of fact... best running bike we have.  i attribute this ALL to fuel injection.  would i take it over my bikes... hell no.
