1976 CB750k Performance Cafe biuld
« on: May 16, 2023, 04:56:06 PM »
I’m looking to build my CB750k6 in to a performance oriented cafe racer.
So far I have a moto gadget and lithium system to lighten the load there. I’m looking to change up the oil tank location and position, all recommended products are welcome. I know I want to put a half Faring on the front and remove the back covers. I think I’m going to keep the brakes as is for the moment. One of my biggest questions is on tires and rim sizes. Currently I’m think g of a 2.50x18 front with a 110/80 x18 and a 3.50x18 rear with a 130/70 x18.
My other thought is a 110/70/17 front on a 2.50x 17 front with a 140/70/17 rear on a 3.50or 4x17 rim. I would like to know if I’m going to have problems with chain rubbing and the bigger question would 18s or 17 be the better option I would like the front and rear to be the same diameter. For an Infiniti on system I would like to know if anyone has done coil on plugs for the looks and possible performance gains. Or would a standard coil from acell be better?

Definition: Cafe Racer.......If its not Fast.........it should at least LOOK fast ;)

If it looks fast, it should be able to STOP in modern street traffic! Since your planning on smaller wheels, I'd go with 18" up front and a 17" on the rear. Now get your tape measure out and check for rim/tire width for chain clearance and dual-disk front brakes with drilled rotors. You can somewhat adjust rake & trail by selecting appropriate tire sizes to match the height front to back.

I like to make a paper-plan front front to rear so the finished project has a comprehensive and cohesive look while achieving the best handling for the day you actually do a heated tour from cafe to cafe.

Very close to the combination I have run for over 25 years.......works great.

I had thoughts about 18" front rim on my K6 and how to get the right caliper on-off when I take my wheel on-off.
The right caliper must go off to remove the wheel.

The upper caliper bracket m6 bolt sit very tight to rim and should be a problem with 18" rim on my bike.  The bolt need to be taken out completely and need space.
My rim is an 19" alu wheel, 2.15" wide. Rather slim outside for its size.

F2 fork with its std dual brakes will be an easier alternative?
