PD46C Throttle Valve linkage Spring

Does anyone know where I can get this spring? I had one fly away on me and can't find it. Not even sure what it does. Can anyone explain what the purpose of this spring is. It's not a return spring of any kind that I can see. It just pulls on the two pivot points for some reason.

Just want to understand its function and find out where the heck I can find one!

Was never available separate, only source is a set of carbs, i have a couple of sets of 750 ones but thats in UK so carriage would be a real killer

If you lost the spring in a known area you might try sweeping the area with a bar type (~36" long double row magnet used for hanging up tools, knives etc.)  I originally made one and suspended it in front of my lawn tractor to pick up nails because I was constantly getting flats.  I then discovered it was very good at sweeping areas I lost small screws etc.  Works very well in grass.  Just put a string on each end and drag it around.  You will be amazed at what it picks up!

A heck of a lot cheaper than buying another set of carbs and it's reusable.  ;)

Anti hysteresis. Slop in the pivots would cause a dead spot in the action without it. Nothing special about the spring so a hardware store one roughly the same strength would do fine.

Yes, it was only available with the linkage. I made one up from a hardware store spring.

So it seems you have solved your problem.  If not I think I have a spare of that from some carbs that won't see service again.  I actually like Pd carbs, now that I've learned how to clean accel pump nozzles and check valves.  I just got my first set of roundtops on a 76, so the learning curve starts again at zero!

Yes problem solved, re-assembled the carbs today and re-checked float level. Ran a High e guitar string through the jets for good measure as long as I had them off the bike. Once the bike was back together, it fired perfectly and ran great. Did a quick little run around the neighborhood an all good.
