Hi,
So my '76 750F didn't come with any tank badges. No problem, found a set of take-off 750F tank badges on ebay and ordered them. I didn't really notice at the time when I installed them, but recently I had the badges off to refinish the tank after an unfortunate accident involving prolonged contact with gasoline, and I noticed the badges are not straight.
What I mean by that, is that on one badge, the "HOND" are all perfectly in line, but the "A" is noticeably kicked up at an angle. As in, if you hold the edge level on its edge, the "A" is angled upwards.
But then on the other badge the "ONDA" is perfectly straight, but the "H" is kicked upwards at the exact same angle as the "A" in the other badge. So it almost seems like these are matched pair, one for either side of a tank. But all the reproduction badges for 750Fs I see are all perfectly straight across. So I guess that leaves me with a few questions:
1) Is this bend intentional for a 750F badge, or did someone somehow manage to bend both badges in precisely the opposite way?
2) If it is intentional, which badge goes on which side?
3) If these badges are not for a 750F, is there another bike they might be for?
They don't have embossed lettering with the little ridges along the edge like a 750K badge, they don't have the "SUPER SPORT" like the 77-78 750F badge, and they don't have the holes in them like the DOHC 750F badges. They have the little pin-mounts that fit into the holes in the tank. So this is making me think I just have a set of badges that somehow got bent in a very peculiar way?
