Starlink satellites
« on: May 03, 2021, 05:41:38 AM »
4:30 this morning I was outside letting the dog poop. I looked up and saw a chain of lights cross the sky.  I thought WTF was that?  Turns out not UFO but another Elon Musk's contribution to space junk.  When I win Lottery I plan to launch my CB750 into orbit.

My wife called me out one night while she was cooking on the grill to show me the 'string' as it was passing overhead.

When they started that business there was a guy posting satellite train schedules. I don't think he does it these days.

They will soon crash into other satelites so important functions for infrastructure will fail.
Debris can fall into atmosphere and maybe hit cities.

Months ago , my youngfella seen  a satellite train as he jumped into his car around 3.45 am to go to work.
He honestly thought he'd seen UFO's. Told his fellow workers and they all wanted a pound of what he was on.
The same thing people said to me when I swore I'd seen a puma about 4am on the edge of a forestry plantation.

Are there Pumas in Australia? We have them here and trail cams and people catch them on security cameras at their pools during the night getting a drink of water. One of my former bosses had a bobcat coming into his yard and sleeping beneath a Christmas tree they had planted in the corner. Their cats refused to go outside but, would sit and stare at the corner when it was around, after they saw what the cats were looking at/watching.

That's the thing RAF. They're not meant to be here. In Australia they're a bit like the abominable snowman . A few people claim to have seen them but no pictures or nothing. I'm going back to 1996. For the life of me , I just cant see a grey domestic cat growing close to two foot at the shoulder.  I was in my car with high beam on doing about 50kmph as normally there are heaps of wallabies eating the grass in that spot every night/ morning. That morning, all the wallabies were about 3/4 of a km further into town near the tennis courts.

With people here in US doing things like raising wild big cats when not licensed to do so it would not surprise me that someone had imported a big cat and it escaped. Naturally they are not going to report it.
So, it is possible that you really saw one. Hopefully not a breeding pair out there as a wallaby could make a nice diet of fresh meat for them.

The climate would support them as long as they can get water and food.

A lion escaped in NE Tennessee and caused quite a ruckus last fall as none of the zoos or local animal parks with lions were missing any. I never did hear what the final story was about where it came from and when they caught it. It caused lots of people anxiety and everyone was having to stay indoors near where it was sighted. Took more thanks a few days to tràck it down. Was in Knoxville Tennessee if you wish to look up theweb articles about it.

Oh by the way, the former boss had a 6 foot high block wall surrounding his back yard. The wall was no challenge for the bobcat to scale. Bobcats can get up to 25-40 pounds depending upon sex and seasonal weight and maturity of course. Fierce fighters if cornered. You simply do not mess with them and come out not bloodied. They will usually steer clear of being seen unless they do not feel threatened and lose their fear of people. They usually will not.

Funny thing is. The only bloke who believed me was the first person I told about 10 minutes after I seen it.
He said his old man worked his entire life in the forestry and told him he seen something similar.
Everyone else thought I was bonkas. ha

We have had Mountain Lion sightings in Illinois, two on the lane where my daughter lives. I spoke to a Sheriffs deputy who responded to a trucker's call about one a few miles from there on the 4 lane road. He found a deer leg and a blood trail before getting spooked when he realized he was walking under trees.

For awhile at one time our DNR here in Michigan was kind of denying the fact that there were cougars/mountain lions back here in Michigan but with so many guys with trail cams etc. around the proof became undeniable. This vid from 2014-15 but plenty more since.    Here kitty kitty !  :D

I saw a star train a couple weekends ago while camping at the drag strip, I ran around showing people until it was gone. Most hadn't seen one before.
