I learnt to ride on a SL 70 and around that time saw On Any Sunday.
Those two started a life long obsession.
I have owned three SOHCs.
A F750, a 550, and currently have a 73 750.
I bought the 73 in 2006 with 1500 miles on the speedo.
The guy I bought it from reckoned he had bought it from the original owner who had crashed the bike not long after he bought it, had it repaired, and never rode it again.
Not long after buying it I realised that the frame was bent and I pulled it apart to get it straightened.
Everything snowballed from there and I got the frame and the rest of the bike repainted, had new alloy rims laced up, and bought all the parts for a 836 JE big bore. But I ran out of space and time to complete it.
In the meantime, I rode a few more modern bikes and bought & sold a GSXR 400, a Buell XB12, and an Aprilia Falco. In 2008 I traded the Falco on a new Tuono on which I have clocked more than 130,000 klms and has been my only transport. I have done a 10.98 down the 1/4 mile on the Tuono and ridden it across Aus and back.
My GF is an enthusiastic pillion but is not finding it getting any easier to climb up on the back of the Tuono. She has been hinting that I should finish the rebuild on the Honda. I have the time and can make the space, so here I am.
